Thanks man!
So the collection is ever growing, she has weeded out a lot of stuff that grows to fast and added a ton of stuff like more gorgs and and a few acans (mostly colorful echenatas since they are harder to keep color on). Most of the small frags have grown out and been put on flat rocks, she is hoping to have a bunch of rocks with mixes of all kinds of stuff on them. I am starting to wish I bought a slightly bigger tank because the whole thing is covered... I am very excited to get her to take some macro shots soon, but it may take some encouragement from you guys to get that to happen! Here is a shot of the little devil she calls princess sarahphina! Now taking bets on how long its relationship with the coral will last! |

I just got on top of her So hopefully we can get some good images up. It's the cheapest lens we could find so don't expect the best, we are not rich!
On another note I have been adding Kalk in the ato tank and also added uv to the return pump chamber. It was a used unit, one of thoes all in one so I think I am going to save up a few bucks and get a new light/sleeve section. I do not like how you can't tell if the light is working or what condition it's in though. |

I am still hoping to add some Cree LEDs we has sitting around and also get a slightly bigger and better return pump. This tank stays fairly warm with the closed loop, averages 78 to 80, and that's with that huge window fan in the sump "room" running when the day lights are on. Without a fan the tank gets too hot.
Comments good or bad are encouraged No bets on the angel? Come on! |

Looking good. The angels are hit or miss with corals, hopefully yours is not a nipper and she can stay in the tank a good long while

Oh it's a nipper, but so far l only the sps input in there! Haha... These types of angels will devour the zoa and acans she has not nip them. I think we are about to do a major fish change around and add some sweet stuff we have always wanted. Either way I left a note on the tank for her to take more macros... Fingers crossed...

Here is a picture update, this is the best we could do with our cheap macro lens. Turned out ok for free hand macro shots on a cheap lens I would say.
The tank is definatly turning into more of a mix of a ton of zoas and palys, mixed with Amandas favorite acans and NPS corals, a few of our favorite sps, and a few of her favorite chalices. I am sorry there are not more zoa and paly pics, but its incredibly hard to get any good photos with such a shallow tank with a canopy on it. So out of the 100 photos we got here are the few decent shots, even though a few have been posted before I figured on updating. FTS hillea acan a rare one which is one of our favorites palys and zoas some more random shots walking dendro this is another one of our favorites which are hard to find porites feather duster rock I wish the blue in the polyps was cought better but it depends on the polyp extention to see it well. I am excited to see this piece grow and color up more! I should have taken a pic of when it first came in... pink eyed chalice I am guessing it has a name but I don't know it... Another sweet chalice she got at my favorite local fish store sabres eyes A chalice she got a long time ago as a booger frag off a wild piece which she named after our cat Sabre. Some random shots of cluttered and grown out palys... |

Another good random shot of some zoas and palys...
I am not sure of the nameof this one, I am sure my girl knows. I am sure there are quite a few names for this paly though... Another shot with our king midas and other random stuff in it. Utter chaos colony... We have fragged this finally and have placed frags in other spots in the tank to grow out in different lighting conditions. Light is a big factor in getting these polyps to color a certain way. Although I didn't see any growth difference between high and low light... Mymmy eye chalice frag waiting to become a colony, like the rest of the big chalices in her tank. A micromussa frag waiting to grow into a nice colony, the original wild colony had really nice colors! |

I am hoping to get some shots of the back side of the tank tomorrow, its so hard to get top down pics becsuse the light glares and a photo box doesnt work well in a very shallow tank. I need to find a good acrylic scraper because the sides are dirty as heck. Any suggestions?

You should get one of those "coral viewers".
They are acrylic round floaters to view and take pictures from the water surface. http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/catalo.../view/id/1489/ http://www.marinedepot.com/Eshopps_C...FIMIVW-vi.html Grandis.

I have one but the canopy makes if impossible to see what your taking pics of unless its right upfront. Maybe i can get the local acrylic guy to make a large square look down viewer so i dont have to actually put my head above it to see what i am shooting. Something like 1' by 2' might be a lot easier.

Now I understand.
Yeah, I've got same problem here. The only solution would be to place the light fixture sideways, and that's not aways easy as it sounds!! Grandis.
