Aquarium Dreams on Merrick Road seems to went out of business. There was a realty sign in the window.

Worth the trip; I picked up a six line to replace mine that jumped. $10 cheaper than everywhere in nassau.

Awsome fish selection, and coral tanks.
Hello new to the forums where is this Suffolk Co Fish and Reef located?

Well kept, decent frag selection and lots of dry goods.

I am actually in there almost every day, as they are located around the corner from my house. In my opinion they are one of the top stores on long island.

I think it's worth a trip. Not the biggest LFS but they have some nice frags/corals, some nice livestock and the important dry-goods.

They also happen to be a bunch of nice guys.

Jeff

Just an FYI, Zeus's in Bayshore has closed a few months back. Wasn't much there, but did have some SW and FW in the back.

Country Critters has had a rep for a very long time of being THE store that you had to see, but a place you wouldn't buy anything at because of high prices, and a less than friendly staff.
That rep and a less than pleasant experience the first time I visited kept me away from the store for a long time.
I went in there recently, and was surprised at the differences I saw. There's a new owner, and new staff. I saw some of the staff actually smile at people.
Prices are lower than what they were, but CC is still no discount fish store. Their stuff did look healthy, and the store still has a presentation that everyone in the hobby should experience.

My "go to" store lately has been Pets Warehouse, in Copaigue, but there are plenty of others around. Aqua Hut in Coram is another store I avoided for a long time, as the reputation said it was a dingy little dumpy kind of store with great prices. I like "great prices" but "dingy" turned me off.
I finally checked it out for myself, and while it's no Taj Mahal, it's not the dungeon I had pictured in my head, either. It's out of the way for me, so I haven't been back, but I will make time to get in there again.
Where on the Island are you? I'll point you to what's closest to you.

I usually do all of my shopping at Aquahut (only 12 minutes away) but I did get a chance to go into Pets Warehouse today and they had a large and very nice selection of livestock and the prices where reasonable. I was tempted to buy a young Clown Tang ($49) but I was not heading straight home. They also has a nice selection of Anthias at good prices. The fish all looked healthy and the guy was cleaning the tanks while I was there. Too bad the store is not closer to me.

Holbrook...... Your closest stores have been mentioned Aqua Hut, Pets Warehouse and Country Critters) with the exception of Suffolk County Fish and Reef on Ocean Ave, just south of the LIE (exit 59).

Just got back from Pets Warehouse and Aqua Hut... But were about the same to me... No help at all at the Warehouse while the guys at Aqua Hut were friendly but they had about 10 dead fish in their tanks...

Does anyone know if Aquarium Design Network is still open? I passed by today at 12:45 and it was closed but the sign on the door said they open at 11.
