red algae problem
I have been keeping marine fish for several years. My problem is red algae that no matter what I do, I cannot get rid of it. Here's my system specs: 210 gallon, lights on 8 hours a day. I have 4 Sicce Voyager 3 powerheads at opposite ends of the tank. I have a Coral Box skimmer that is rated for a 200 gallon tank. I am running an algae scrubber, I filter with carbon, I change out floss filter material weekly from my sump, I run a 36 watt UV filter and use RO water. When I installed the algae scrubber approx 1 month ago, it did slow down the algae growth somewhat, temp is maintained at 78 degrees and I feed sparingly. I only have 6 fish currently with plans to ad 2 more. I am at wits end trying to remedy this problem and I would appreciate any suggestions

Do you mean red cyano bacteria? If so, I recommend very thorough manual removal, followed by chemiclean, then a 3-4 day blackout, and finish with a large water change.

You say RO, not RODI.
Check for silicates in your water. |

Manual removal followed by chemiclean then a few days of blackout should solve your problem. And you should check your water.
