Probably should update I also have a moorish idol already eating coming in end of the month/April.
After that I think in June I'll add a midas blenny + starcki damsel. Followed by end of July or August maybe my tangs/emperor angel and call it a day. Whew FISH! |

Well just went to go feed the tank and found my Carpenter's wrasse sitting on top of my netting cover. It is crazy because the fish should not have been able to fit through the holes. It was probably out of the water for an hour or two since I checked the tank prior.
The fish unfortunately died :/. |

I had 3 carpenters wrasses and let me tell you they WILL find a way out, i lost 2 /3 to jumping and i have a net on mine. They suck for that, as alot of wrasses do. Be prepared for it to happen again, sadly.
Tanks looking good, take it slow with adding things. Patients is key my friend

I have a moorish idol and midas blenny coming in next week. After those two fish I will be done until June/July since I will be getting my lasik surgery and paying cash for it. $4600, but well worth it in my book not to need glasses! I need to figure out *** to do to control algae, I keep adding hermits and snails and they keep going mia :/. I have nasty algae growth on the rocks, but no way to control it right now. |

As for the algae, are you using 0 TDS water when your topping off the tank and doing water changes? How much are you feeding? How old is the tank now?

It isn't the hermits, the hermits are literally getting eaten by the wrasse! Yes 0 tds for top off and water changes, I have 2 tds meters and just changed my filters on 1.20.2013. 1/20/2013 added gfo & carbon 1/20/2013 changed ro filters 1/26/2013 10 g water change 2/23/2013 changed carbon 3/3/2013 15 g water change 3/9/2013 changed gfo 3/23/2013 20g water change - I need to get a new pump for my carbon reactor so that has been offline 2 days, I will replace it with fresh carbon. I do feed somewhat heavy of flake/pellets and once in awhile frozen. My skimmer does a pretty good job of removing all the yuck. Bulbs are leds, about a year old or so I bought used. 2 x AI Sol Blue fixtures. |

Thank you and even some better news, the moorish idol took to the new era marine algae grazer that I feed my tang/angels!
Also the moorish idol is eating SA Dryhatchery like a pig 1.2mm pellets. |

So the moorish idol I foolishly did not quarantine and lost almost all my fish.
The only fish that remained were: Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse (Yellow Patch Wrasse) Orange-Back Fairy Wrasse Melnarus Wrasse My 180 Gallon Saltwater tank as of 3/21/14: Current Stocking List: Yellow-Flanked Fairy Wrasse (Yellow Patch Wrasse) Orange-Back Fairy Wrasse Melnarus Wrasse Sustainable Aquatics Snowflake Clownfish Sustainable Aquatics Snowflake Clownfish I am battling a nasty hair algae after neglecting my tank for awhile, it was a lot worse last week and I am slowly correcting it. Also I replaced my MP40 with the Jebao WP60 and I am very happy with the change. The MP40 alone was not enough power for my tank, but this WP60 is amazing! I am going to order a CUC from Reeftopia once it warms up and then I plan on adding some fish slowly. I think either a trio of anithas or a hippo tang to start :x. Thanks for looking! |

I built a stand using rocket engineer's template from reef central for a 55g long. Going to pick one up tomorrow from petco, the lady said 55s are included yesterday while I was there, but she wouldn't sell me it at the discount :X.
I am also going to be starting a dose of Fauna Marine Algea X to help battle my hair algae. Anyone have any recommendations for a CUC, my Melnarus wrasse seems to have a taste for hermits. |

So I bought a 55 gallon tank from petco's $1 per gallon sale, going to use this as a QT. I built the stand for it last night which was fun.
Plan is next weekend to pickup 2/3 fish and begin the QT process. These will be the first fish I'm adding besides the mandarin in almost a year :x. I'm super excited! |

So between yesterday & today I started work on my soon to be 40g breeder fuge.
Thanks to Anthony (thiry5, YOU MY BOY BLUE) the 40 breeder is drilled with a glass-holes overflow & a 1/2" return. I built the stand today and was able to get my mixing barrels moved to a different part of the basement. Basically the plan is to build a manifold from my return that will feed the fuge, display, reactors, and connect it to the drain you see with the barb hanging. The fuge will be packed full of rock & macro algae. The fuge will then drain into the sump in the DT's return area. Enjoy the pics and more to come |

Got the stand for the fuge sprayed with some polyuretheane and leveled it, placed tank on top and filled with my old dry rock.
Once my RO maker finishes making more water I'm going to add it to the tank and then throw a heater and powerhead in there to start the cycle. I figure I'll let the rock cycle separately before tieing it into my sump pictured below. I plan on buying a different pump and going to use that to run a manifold, which will feed into the fuge & then have the fuge drain into the return section of my sump. I have a 20g long sitting underneath the fuge that acts as my ATO tank. |

Sorry to hear about your looses. My tank has gone down the hill as well. I pretty much lost all my corals. Hang in there and hopefully the remaining two will hold on.

I got my 20 gallon ato container in place, originally I was going to keep it under the fuge stand, but to access the pump/tank itself was a pita.
I also started on my wiring center, since all my fish died I have only the return & heaters going at this time. Once I add back on my WP60 and other powerheads I'll add more wires etc. I have a jebao DC12000 on order, plan is to build a manifold to run my reactors, the fuge, my return, and whatever else I think of. |

I placed an order for 50 lbs of Reef Cleaner's rock on Sunday.
I requested larger pieces for my 180 gallon tank. Here are a few pictures of the rocks and then I just threw some of them on top of one another to get an idea for scaping. Keep in mind these little random scapes took all of 5 minutes to make and play with. I plan on drilling the rocks and making it stable . Rocks 1: Rocks 2: Rocks 3: Rocks 4: Random Scapes: I think I'm going to do a pillar and arch like I have, but will keep playing around to get ideas. Now to find a big drill bit :X |
