how do i make ceramic bonsai trees?

also how can i safely paint it? thanks!

You do realize that this is a forum for fish tanks, right? I think you might have better luck posting this question in another forum somewhere. Although I’m not entirely certain that there are ceramic bonsai tree forums.

If you are talking about for holding corals, look into bisque fired ceramics. It's slightly porous unglazed ceramic. You could not paint it though.

Most food safe glazes ought to be alright if you want color on the ceramic but I would double check which ever one you want to use for metals. Your probably better off buying one than trying to make one though becuase ceramics are pretty tricky and require specialized equipment to make. You can't just use air drying clay so you would need access to a kiln at a minimum.

I would use apoxie-sculpt. It comes in many colors and dries to rock-hard without a kiln. I used it to make this shelf which houses a large branching hammer coral colony. I am in the process of using it to make a similar coral-holding structure for my frag tank that I am finally getting around to.

I tried to post pics from flickr...didn't work. Sorry.
