Mg API test kit
Hello guys,
Am I the only one having hard times with the MG test kit from API? I was getting consistent measures for a while on the low end of OK and decided to boost it a but with the BRS mix. After that, every time I read it I get a different measure. I am following the same steps carefully but my solution turns blue at a different spot every time. It ranges all the way from 1200+ to 1400+ and yes, I waited well enough after dosing Mg to start measuring. Anyone having issues with the Mg test as well? Also does Hanna has Mg testers? Thank you!

API makes a magnesium test kit? Where did you find that?

I've never used API test kits but have heard less than great things abouot them. My go-to kits are Salifert. They are easy to use and provide very repeatable results.

All API not overly reliable, but inexpensive
Red Sea makes the most accurate MG kit IMO, but yup, a bit pricey. |

Hanna doesn’t make a mg tester but to my knowledge neither does API. I can’t find a listing online and it is not on API’s website. I don’t know if they did in the past so if you are sure it is API, check the bottles for an expiration date. If it is an old product no longer in production the reagents are likely expired and therefore not reliable.
