Brass splitter for RO/DI

Hello, i need to add a splitter line under my utility sink so i can have water feed to my utility sink and RO/DI. The only one my hardware store has is a brass splitter. Is that ok/safe? Will it leach anything dangerous into water? i assume the rodi will filter it out if so but maybe not???

Brass before the filtration unit is just fine...its best to avoid it post filtration

Before the RO/DI unit is fine, after is not.

Think of it this way, most homes in the US have copper pipes which we all know means certain death to corals and most fish in high levels. But this is all pre filter and anything that leech's into the water from the pipes is cleaned in the filter.

Brass fitting before the filter is absolutely fine.

i am in situation where i need to get it today. in need of water. i just moved into new house and just set the tank back up. i could get the brass one then order something else to change. The lowes near me also has plastic Y fittings but think they are for garden hoses..... would they be fine to rig up under utility sink or stick with brass?

The brass as stated is totally fine..
There is basically zero reason that the plastic one is "better" in this situation..
Get the brass.. Never look back..

Stick with the brass.

I originally used one of those plastic ones, it eventually blew apart.

I prefer brass over plastic every time due to the possibility of the plastic fitting failing catastrophically.

As mentioned above, after the ro/di, or anywhere in the middle of it is a major no-no. Before it is perfectly OK.

As for the fitting linked above, it still contains metal and so should not be used anywhere after the filter, and adds zero benefit ahead of it anyway.
