I use an orifinal Reefkeeper and really like it a lot. But Profilux is a new level if you can swing it.

Also think about an ORCA 250 for the money an awesome external skimmer.

Forgot to mention Sandy you ahve to think of how to get all the humidity out of the fish room - might want to talk to your contractor to do a exhaust leading out to one of your windows...

Cheers..

Yes, we had a talk with contractor, we will have an exhaust fan installed.

Ed what is that railing/track called you used to move your lights?
did you have to modify your light kit to be able to slide on it?

also we are thinking about placing the aquarium on starboard, has anyone done this?

U can get those rails with it's rollers in those hardware shops.... very standard rollers and rails they used for sliding doors, panels, etc.

Ask the contractor to used those waterproof paint for the fish room as well or even better tiles up the walls

TILE UP THE WALL !!!!,
now that will put my Ed over the edge!
Good point on the water proof paint! We have talked about putting up green board on the walls to help with the moisture.

My protein skimmer did not make it yesterday %$#@!

I called Fed-Ex, they said it should be here today, I wonder what those people think sometimes, we have to work to pay for the packages being delivered. I waited all day yesterday! I was really disappointed! Oh well, maybe today.

I am really getting exited about our new toys, one piece at a time.

once the new tank is up and running, we will more than likely get the self-cleaning head!
YES, YES!

being that I'm the one doing all the maintenance anyway.
Ed is starting to look at all my books on corals, and coral friendly fish now.

I'm am so lucky to have him!

Also, we are looking to buy the GHL Profilux Plus II EX Professional Elite.

It is a little pricey, but I think it will be a good investment.
Any thoughts on that!

Thanks everyone on the rails system for the lights!
Next project, I have noticed that some reefers have a "control board" ( I think that is what it is called) for their electrical needs, is this the best way to go?
or, should I have the contractor place a 4 plug box every so many feet?

I like the control box,
I like to have things neat and tidy, I think that is the woman in me! LOL!

really all my current equipment is labeled, tied strapped and out of the way! well kind of, right now it is a mess trying to get the new skimmer running properly, it is putting a lot of bubbles in the tank right now! any suggestions on that?

Put a skimmer socks att the end of the skimmer output...also is your skimmer output return below the water level? this should reduce the bubbles greatly

Ed, you are soooo right again!, we put a sock on it and all is well now, no more bubbles in the tank.

I'll take a picture of the skimmer in a minute, let me know what you think!

No probs...as for the switches....since your switches is at the side, you have many options...those who uses controller box is cause we lack space so have to be more creative in space management but since you get to build the whole cabinet for this, you can actually planned it out in details, including shelves for controllers, Tunze stream plugs as well as ballasts, if any.

Best was to start is to list down all equipments you will most likely to have with 4 spares (for future upgrades) and then discussed with your contractor how/ what's best way to lay this out. What's important is it must have easy access and also space for manual timers (if you are not using a controller). Switches style can be in LED, simple wall switch style or even round....the choices is endless....
