Live aquaria clam

Just got this a Deresa clam in from Live Aquaria from their Wisconsin location. he’s opening up my only concern is there’s a hole where I can see right through his mantle is this normal?

Unfortunately he’s dead he’s been in the same position as when I recieved him from shipping and now he’s dead smh hope they can honor their warranty

That’s the problem with the tiny clams from live aquaria they are much tougher than a clam a little bit larger
