Cool NEW! AquaMaxx ConeS CO-5 Protein Skimmer

AquaMaxx ConeS CO-5 In-Sump Protein Skimmer
Tank Ratings: For a light bioload up to 600 gallons; for a heavy bioload up to 350 gallons

AquaMaxx ConeS Series In-Sump Protein Skimmers efficiently remove organic waste from aquarium water. With an advance bubble chamber design that features numerous conical diffusers, the turbulence in the reaction chamber is reduced and a stable laminar flow is achieved to maximize efficiency and performance.

Achieve a stable laminar flow and maximize efficiency!

In conjunction with the innovative bubble chamber, a powerful needle wheel pump generates optimally-sized air bubbles that force protein, waste and other materials through the hybrid cone body and into a collection cup for easy removal. The AquaMaxx ConeS Series is rated for aquariums 175-600 gallons yet are small enough to be concealed in a sump underneath your aquarium.

Computer-precision engineered and outfit with the latest filtration technology, AquaMaxx protein skimmers are engineered to deliver the performance and value you are looking for in a skimmer.

AquaMaxx ConeS Series Skimmers are built using a brilliantly polished cell-cast acrylic. They incorporate the high-end features hardcore hobbyists demand at a price everyone can afford. The ConeS Series is equipped with advanced bubble chambers, hybrid-cone bodies, air silencers and needle wheel impellers for maximum performance, efficiency and whisper quiet operation. They also have compact footprints to make installation as easy as possible.

HIGH PERFORMANCE

AquaMaxx ConeS Skimmers feature custom made SHARK 6.0 pumps with special needle wheel impellers to whip up large amounts of air with optimum bubble size. These pump and protein skimmer combinations deliver unprecedented performance and reliability. Aquarium waste will be vigorously removed from your tank so you can focus less on maintenance and more on enjoying your piece of the reef.

MULTI-POSITION PUMP

The skimmer comes pre-drilled with two pump ports which allow you to change the position of the pump. This versatile features allows the skimmer to fit into a variety of spaces without compensating performance.

SUPERIOR DESIGN

AquaMaxx Cone-Series Protein Skimmers are designed from the ground up with the hobbyist in mind. A built-in air intake silencer reduces noise for near-silent operation. The hybrid-cone design maximizes the size of the reaction chamber and to allow the skimmate to smoothly rise into the collection cup. The advanced Bubble Chamber decreases turbulence and produced a stable laminar flow: which improves bubble transition and boosts skimmer performance.

No news as of yet. We are guessing late 2015 or early 2016.

The only advantage is it that the skimmer is more compact?

The main advantage of the Q-Series is the smaller footprint (with the pump inside the skimmer), so it can more-easily fit into tighter spaces. Another advantage is shorter overall height with the new outlet pipe design: which we are smitten by

AquaMax Skimmers are great, but it's time they offer a DC pump option.

Good idea. I just forwarded your recommendation along to AquaMaxx for consideration.

Also curious about any specials coming up.

Gathering equipment for my 300 gallon build, although I'm torn between the CO-5 and the CO-6. I like the Askoll block used on the CO-6, but it will probably be overkill for my 300 gallon. Haven't read much on the NEWA blocks.

Congratulations on the new tank!

The CO-6 would be much too large for a 300 gallon aquarium. We would recommend the CO-3 for a typical 300 gallon tank and the CO-5 if you plan to have a really high bioload.

NEWA pumps are awesome pumps as well. They are made in Italy by the same company that makes the great Cobalt MJ pumps.

Thanks for the advice. The 1020 LPH rating on the CO-3 has scared me off so far. I've been looking at mostly 1800+. Is the Shark 3.0 a Sicce block?

As there is no standardized test method of measurement and most air measurement devices are not all that precise, air intake ratings are great for comparing skimmers within the same brand, but are not as useful when comparing different brands.

The Shark 3.0 is indeed a modified Sicce pump. Over the years, it has proven to be quite a work horse in the EM-300, Cone 3, Q-3 and CO-3.
