Well, it looks like it's going to take one more day to get this finished, but here's a progress shot...

Well, for $10 at Lowe's, perhaps this is a little piece of mind. Half-inch insulation that will easily fit between the brick and the tank. I won't be able to slide it out, but I can cut it out after the mortar cures and sleep more easily knowing that the masons are not pushing and pulling mortar and brick back and forth across the tank glass.

Thanks! I think it's coming together nicely! Hopefully I can get the inside of the tank to look as sharp as the outside!
Progress... Currently building the temporary support structure for the arch. On schedule to be completed by midafternoon. Last edited by Bloke; 08/02/2011 at 09:40 AM. |

I got the RODI about 90% setup. I need to run by Lowe's and pick up a small male/male adapter to connect the two DI canisters as well as install the float valve.

I also have about 120lbs of BRS Fiji that I plan to begin cycling in a trashcan. I will be ordering another 100lbs to add in a second trashcan.
I will be making pillars/columns of varying height out of the rock by drilling it and placing atop PVC piping. Once installed, I will lay secondary pieces at the base of the pillars and as needed. |

I worked on the aquascape some and am not 100% on it, but when are we ever completely satisfied with it?

Wow looks great, i wish my build was moving this fast.
What sketch up program are you using to get the 2x4's and everything in there? |

It is Google Sketchup; it just took a long time to draw each stud!

I tweaked the aquascaping just a little. Here are closeups of the two sides of the rock. There is an additional 75lbs of rock in the sump for a total rock weight close to 250lbs.

I believe I am going to run Par38 LED spotlights instead of running the 3x400w MH I had previously planned for. It seems like a smarter move to go this route to begin with than be forced the change in the future.
Browsing threads from the lighting forum, I found this light rack and display that looks amazing IMO. |

Maybe it's just my monitor...but there seems to be some real dark spots in the picture above.
Build looks great so far...reminds me of all the brick I had to take out to put my tank in the wall

I finally got the system completely plumbed. I ran a "T" into an existing 2" drain line to easily dispose of waste water when changing out tank water. I simply open the valve and pump the desired amount of water into the drain.
With everything plumbed and tank parameters stable, it's time to start the cycle! |

You know, I'd love to. I haven't been since the first year. This is such a crazy and busy time and I don't think I'm going to be able to make it, but there's always a chance. Who's the headline speaker this year?
