I added the premium hanging kit anyways even though I'm sure eco-tech marine forums is a more reliable source then marine depots. Just a heads up guys from what I've heard.
This is the premium kit:

As I understand it the "Standard" kit ONLY comes with the piece on the right side and you have to supply your own griplock kit.

Marinedepot's blog had a photo of this:

I think that bolt and the single small cable mentioned by SkullV comprises the standard hanging kit.

I don't really want to hang mine but if it comes with those bolts with the holes drilled in them It would be pretty simple to bend some steel bar that fits into those holes in a "U" and make a mount. Something very minimal like this:

Here's another pic of the standard hanging hardware:

Also, I asked EcoTech about getting the manual early, and they said that it would not be available until launch.

It DOES contradict the "per 40gal" rule.

I'm not even sure what your statement is referring to but:

There are no "rules" here. The fixture/40g statement was a RECOMMENDATION that EcoTech has repeatedly stated was conservative. Furthermore they have repeatedly said that they feel it will probably cover more but until more units get out to hobbyists they do not want to overstate/understate the reasonable coverage.

To clear up confusion; included with the XR30 are the (4) eyelets which allow you to mount the light as desired. The premium hanging kit (sold separately) includes the two-point stainless steel hanging kit mounted below.

While we have you, on the premium kit (which I ordered) how exactly does it attach to the ceiling? Also, I see four screws but how do the eyelets connect to the height adjustment part?

Jonathon,

How far in from each side of the fixture are the hanging holes located? I'm trying to drill my light rod for these guys so I can hang them up the second they arrive!

Can these fixtures rest perhaps on wooden cross-beams until a tank-mount bracket becomes available for them? or are there any third party brackets that may work in the interim?

Looking forward to more details!!
i also did the count and in my case it contradicts

even thou the Radion has more spread i understand all led lighting is direct lighting, opposite to MH. at the moment my tank (118L x 23W x 27H) is running with 5 250 MH and i still get a lot of glare from the glass during the day because the tank is in a place with to much windows and day light. do you think that 5 radions are enough for my SPS LPS(mostly) tank? do you think the fact that LEDs are direct lighting will help or make worst my glare problem?

For those of you worrying about a tank mounted option T-slot track similar to AI's & Mazarra's setups is readily available and should work quite easily for all but those with rimless tanks. It comes in a wide variety of sizes and can be assembled like a giant erector set to suit your needs. Those 4 screw in mounts shown in the pic above can be swapped out for hardware that will slide into the t-slot track. You can even mix and match with AI's legs package so it will mount and look similar to AI's setup.

You know ... that would actually work, great suggestion! And if you use it to hang, it would look alot better than AI's due to the low profile and black color!

Excellent find SPotter! This just makes me want mine even more! Marinedepot now has ETA at 5-7 business days! Only one thing, for the premium hanging kit it stills says 2-3 weeks, yikes! I told them to combine the order to save on shipping plus to have them both at the same time.

Waiting is so hard to do!

If you have a par meter would you be willing to do some par tests over a white sheet before hanging your light? If you dont have a par meter I would be willing to send you mine for the test.

Sure why not? I do not have a par meter, but may be able to get one from my reef club. I will need for you or someone to tell me the procedure for doing the test, but I'm down.
