Macro Rocks Sizes

Hello,

I am going to order 50 Pounds of Macro Rocks with the mortar kit for my 37 gallon tank (30Lx12Wx24T). They ask what rock sizes you want. Their choices are:
Small (5-7"):
Medium (7-10"):
Large (10" -14"):
X-Large 14"+:
So my question is what rock sizes should i get for my tank? I was thinking maybe Medium. I just don't want the rocks to be too big or small to work with in my aquascape. If anyone could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it, thanks!

If you mean “Marco” rocks and not “macro”, then yes. If it’s dry rock, regardless of type, it will need to be cured or cycled before it will do its job as a natural filter in your tank. There are several ways to accomplish that.

My guess is that since you already have your tank ready to go, you’ll be cycling the rock inside of the tank, as opposed to in a bin or large bucket?

No. It has no organic content, and is just rock.

I put about 75 pounds of Marco rock in my sump for about 6 weeks before removing my old, aptasia coated rock from my display and didn't note any swings in parameters other than my nitrate coming down, even after I removed the old rock.

I think i will just rinse it thoroughly with tap water to get the dust off and then let it dry. According to several google searches most people never cured their Marco rock because there is no die-off on it and it is quarried rock. Now if it was like Pukani or something that would be a different story as well all know Pukani is a phosphate factory!
