Doser or reactor

So should I just get a doser (no Apex) to dose Cal/alk/mag or should I get the Korallin C-1502 Calcium reactor? It's pricey for the complete package ($600) and I'm not sure I need it for a mixed reef.

A pair of BRS peristaltic pumps (drews dosers), paired with 2 $15 digital lamp timers from HD/Lowes for your Ca and Alk and you will be good to go. Magnesium gets used so slowly that water changes can probably keep up with it, but even if I have to occasionally dose I just use the BRS calculator to determine how much and then pour that amount into the sump.

It really depends on how large of a tank. In a larger tank that use a lot of calcium, a Calcium reactor is the best at keeping Ca and CO3 up with minimal work and least expensive. You must have a good Ca reactor and a good continuous adjustable dosing pump. Gravity or return pump as a way to push through a Ca reactor is not reliable and a headaches when trying to tune a Ca reactor.
When I set up a tank, big or small, I always set it up using Kalk dosing, either manual or automatic. Then for my permanent tank, I use Ca reactor. For long term QT tank system (I use smaller reef system as QT system), I do not have Ca reactor.

If your tank is larger than 120 gallons and you are planning on keeping a lot of SPS I would go with a calcium reactor and put kalk in your ATO reservoir. If it is smaller dosing would be fine
