Wavepoint T5 Fixture?

Hi everyone! Does anyone have experience with the 4 bult Wavepoint t5 fixture? I can't find much about them. How do they compare to other fixtures?

Seems like not too many people run these fixtures. What about the 4 bulb coralife fixtures? Anyone have any experiences with those?

Wave Point, I had one 10 years ago, good fixture but it got very warm which led to the ballast going out prematurely. Coralife good cheap light, lamps are not the greatest

That basically sums up the reviews I've seen..

Most just pony up the extra for "ATI" and their proven name/quality I think..

Don't forget to check out the T5 fixtures from Sunblaze..

Hard to beat that pricing.. Just use ATI or whatever bulbs in them and enjoy..

I have a dimmable ATI but I really think I would get a Sunblaze if I was to do it again..But my ATI fixture has been rock solid and does look great..

I checked out the Sunblaze, but didn't see one that was 36". I have a 40 breeder. I was mainly interested in the Wavepoint due to the price. Amazon has them for under $200. The ATI would be my first choice, but I can't afford that right now. Still looking around for a used one, though (I don't have access to the buy/sell/trade function on this site yet, so i'm stuck with ebay for now). Is there any way to add a cooling fan to the Wavepoint to address the heat issue (something not too difficult)?

How long did it last before it went out (if you remember)?

IMO a 24" fixture works great on a 40B..
I ran one for years..
Few have corals jam packed out to the extreme sides of a tank anyways..
Saves electricity/cheaper bulb replacement costs,etc...

I may consider a 24" fixture. Did you notice any major shadowing with that size? I really like my tank to be evenly lit.

Wavepoint T5 Fixture?

I have two wavepoint t5 fixtures. Both are dead. Here is my experience:
1. Their ballasts are short lived. For the 4 bulb fixture, the two ballasts inside are wired differently. If you need to replace the ballast, you need to order the right one. (And pay more than double for something more than twice less reliable, JK)
2. Thermo management is poor. That may contribute to the death of the ballasts.

I think I'll stay away from the Wavepoint fixtures. I may just save a little longer and pick up a 4 bulb ATI fixture. @BIGCYCS805 thanks for the tip! I'll check that out for sure.
