Video! looks like embed isn't working
I've preordered two units and I have a couple of questions. 1) What is the distance between the center of one led cluster on one fixture to the center of the parallel cluster on the 2nd fixture using the connected hanging kit? The hanging kit looks like it creates a fixed distance between the fixtures. Because of the spires in my tank, I need to make sure they are spread wide enough so that the far sides of the spires receive light. 2) How do the moonlights work? Do they follow the lunar cycle? 3 ) The app being used to control the lights at MACNA, is that available to the public?

OK, I was sitting in bed all night trying to figure out a solution for my tank. Assuming I can rotate each LED cluster 90 degrees in the hood (which looks possible from the exterior), would I be wrong in thinking I would narrow the beam pattern roughly 12" while picking up another foot length wise? It looks like each kidney shaped element has a 2' spread lengthwise and roughly 1' wide width wise? Is this a correct assumption?

I hope EcoTech has something up their sleeve and don't mind me saying this.
Go to a supplier that carries the new Mazarra tank mount and hang the Radion from that somehow. Just a thought.

Concerns with fan placement
Seems like the biggest concern/debate with this design is the placement of the fan. Any way we can see photos of the inside of the unit? How about a diagram of how air is moved through the unit?
This way, we can hopefully put this issue to rest. Last edited by D-Nak; 09/14/2011 at 10:37 AM. |

Concerns with fan placement
Also, how are the heat sinks accessed for cleaning?

Thanks for the photo ReefRocker. Based on the photo, can one assume that the fans pulls air in, then pushes it over the heat sinks, which are on the back of the LED cluster (top of unit when placed over the tank)? I'm just wondering if the heat sinks will collect dust (reducing efficiency), or if the fan is strong enough to keep them relatively clean?

What I plan to do in terms of mounting the lights, is to build a canopy and insert the fixtures through the top routing the holes so that the fixture sits on a "lip" leaving the top portion out in order for air flow and access to the touch controls. I will most likely have a couple of fans in the canopy bringing in outside air so the fixture will always have fresh air. Hopefully works out in real life as it does in my head. :-)

Is the power supply for the Radion separate or is it somewhere inside the housing?

So considering that the software developed is for PC, me only owning Mac's will not allow me access to the software config side of these unit's?
