Where the hanging wires attach there's a thread in the bracket for the screws that come with the premium hanging kit. Just filled the tank and I love the shimmer with the LEDs. I'll post better pics after cycling the tank. If anyone is interested we can manufacture this style of brackets in order to bring the cost down it would have to be at least 10 brackets ordered...not so much for the material and fabricating but anodizing there's a $150 minimum charge. Hello. I used AI rails to hang my Radions. T do it this way you need
Im using 6' rails 12 M5x20 pan head screws 12 M5 nuts 12 small washers Thread the washers and nuts onto the screws then thread into the lights. You need to leave enough room between the washer and the head of the screw to slide the lights on the rails. Using the screws that came with the rails to hold the end caps on and the lower end of the hanging kit. You need to hog out the holes to be able to use the screws for the end caps. I hung the wire end and threaded it through the cam lock to a good working hight over my tank. I then centered the lights and tighten down the nuts. The first time i did this i used the wrong screws, they were to short. The rails came into contact with the lights and would cycle them. Using the M5x20 will give enough access to the buttons.[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG] [IMG] [/IMG] [IMG][/IMG]

My Radion Light Rack
Here's my approach. I didn't want the rack attached to the stand and I wanted the ability to add more lights if needed. This required 1" aluminum square aluminum tubes, 1" aluminum corners and a 1" aluminum flat. They are held together with stainless steel bolts and nylon locking nuts. The chain is very light weight and prevents all deflection. Used Rustoleum aluminum primer and flat black Rustoleum paint.
Note that the shot with the rack on the wall doesn't show what it looks like with the wires 'cleaned up'. Will post one cleaned up later today.

I just wanted to jump in here and post that I just bought my two Radions! They will be going over my 48x20x24 tank! They will be replacing my current 48" 8x54w Dimmable Powermodule fixture. I can't wait to get them hung. Now on to figuring out how I will hang them and program them.

Does anyone have the exact measurements for these Radions? I'm going to design my bracket somewhat like Borap did. I'll have one of my fabricators make it for me. Being an engineer I'm noticing the dimensions on Ecotech's website aren't matching up.
In this pic below the dimensions between the holes are 5.125" x 9.75" with a 1.125" from the edge of the top plate. Well 9.75 + 1.125 + 1.125 = 12 and on the website it says the overall length of the unit is 11.8. How can this be? The top plate is a bit smaller than the overall unit! Can someone from Ecotech confirm the exact dimension of overall unit, top plate, and mounting holes? I would hate to fabricate my bracket only for the lights to not fit. |
