What's this "rocky" growth on my palys?

Hi everyone,

I recently put in a paly frag. They appear to be doing fine, but something is growing on the plug. It looks like nothing so much as rock, and it's definitely growing. Any ideas?

Could you circle on the image what is growing in MS paint? A lot going on in that image.

Thanks FishandPhysics,

I also noticed that the image wasn't rotated properly. Here is it correctly oriented with the "growth" circled.

Looks to me like a typical live rock outcropping, with a bit of purple coralline algae. I'm not sure what you see as growing. Are you sure your palys aren't just moving off it a bit so the spacing looks larger?

Kevin

Maybe a harmless sponge or whatever... No issue there..

But what about your green rock? That a clear issue that hopefully you are addressing..

Thanks everyone.
@mcgyvr, when you say "green rock", are you referring to the green hair algae that's slightly visible, or the green tint on the rock itself?

I'm definitely addressing the GHA (a long and hard fight, but I'm winning).

If you mean the green tint on the rock, I didn't even realize it's something I should be concerned about. I can confirm that most of the rock has a light green covering on it, and that it's the only rock in the tank with that color. Plenty of purplish coraline elsewhere, but nothing green.
