Acid wash
I want to acid wash all my live rock. I bought some muriatic acid that is used to lower ph in swimming pools but don’t know it’s concentration. My question is this;
What ratio of muriatic acid to water is going to cook off all pests and for how long should I keep the live rock submerged for. Also how do I bring the ph back up so the treated rock doesn’t cause low ph of new or current tank setup. |

There's a big write up of this on an American reef site. Essentially, "use a 30% concentration muriatic acid at a 10:1 gallon ratio with water."
I also did this and worked very well. I've since thought that using a hose was a bad idea because of the rock re-absorbing things... But you'd need a lot of RO to avoid this... Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk |

See the first response from dkeller_nc here..
http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh....php?t=2518491 talks about dilution, safe handling and remaining acid neutralization all in one short/sweet post.. Only thing not covered is a quick "add acid to water not other way around" reminder..
