Blueface angel: flukes?

I purchased this blueface angel and an orange spot rabbitfish last week and have them both in a 25g QT. They are both about 2" in size and both were eating like champs.

A couple days later I noticed the blueface twitching some and over the past two days his fins have started to deteriorate along with his appetite. I am assuming it is flukes, so I just dosed prazipro today. Would flukes cause his fins to rot like this?

Also the rabbitfish is still doing great and has no signs of anything so far.

If I suspect flukes, my first course of action is a fresh water dip. It provides immediate relief for the fish and gives an accurate diagnosis of the problem.

Also, usually you can see the flukes start to appear in the first two minutes, I recommend between 5-10 minutes for the dip depending on how the fish is doing.

Be sure to match temp and pH.

I had already added in the prazipro and made this post right before I had to go to work so I was not able to do the freshwater dip. Well almost 24 hours later, behavior wise he is acting much better. Swimming around and he did go back after food, not as aggressively as before but he ate a decent amount.

Back to the question of the fin rot. Would you assume this is a secondary infection or a result of the flukes? Something that will heal on its own or require another medicine?

I use paraguard by seachem for fin rot. Not sure if it is reef safe.

Would paraguard be safe to use with prazipro?

Prazipro people say not to use with any other medication.

Well, after 5 days I dosed another round of prazipro. I think he will make it through. Acting very healthy and the fin deterioration had ceased after the initial dose of prazipro and are already starting to grow back. I believe it was due to the flukes. Appreciate the responses

Glad to hear it. Fins usually regenerate without medication once the source of the deterioration has been addressed.
