Making progress on the fish/sump room. Have all of the dry wall up, wiring done, now doing a final mapping of where everything is going to be mounted. Jeremy is quite the master at this kind of stuff, this is going to be one organized fish room!
Jeremy made me a frag tank out of a 20 tall, he cut it down to just about 5" tall and put the rim back on it. It will tie into our system, I'm excited for it! Can't wait. Buffing of the tank hasn't began yet, still working on this room. We have everything we need, now just need the time to finish it. |

Doesn't look like much to you guys most likely... But we're getting closer. The stand is started, inside of room is fully dry walled and wired. Sink hookup and drain is in. Next is finishing the stand (made from green treat). After the lower stand is finished, we will be working on the upper portion of the wall that will be above the tank.
We're coming along slowly but surely. |

I am picture happy tonight.
'Layout' Here is how we are trying to figure out how to lay out all of our instruments, some tape, and paper cut out to the size of each instrument. It's like a big game of tetris Img 2987: Today we got part of the upper portion of the wall completed. Img 2988: Plumbing shopping list... Img 2979: This shows how far the tank is sticking out of the wall, you'll still be able to see down the sides. |

Jeremy made me a killer frag rack for the 40 gallon. Put all of the frags (and two Zoa colonies) we got today on it.
My phone doesn't like to cooperate with posting pics on here... I'll get a pic when I'm able to successfully load it. |

All of the frags on the frag rack were picked up yesterday along with the two zoa colonies.
(Side note) ALL of this (minus yesterdays frags) was crammed in a 20g that we purchased from a friend... we've upped it to 40g waiting for the 290 to be ready. And to this... this is ROOM for these overgrown corals and fish! Corals from yesterdays adventure: Two large zoa colonies: Purple Passion Armour of God Frags: Neon Birdsnest Pink Birdsnest KO Zoa Rasta Zoa Tubb blue zoa Keds Reds zoa Pink Infusion zoa Bubble Rhodactus (blue) Teal mushroom Iron Man Rhodactus Purple Monster Chalice Green Leptastrea Setosa Blue acro Green acro Neon Green Monti Mystic Sunset Monti Last edited by MrsReefK; 11/23/2015 at 11:04 AM. Dr Fosters had 20% off yesterday, got all of our sand ordered, 360 lbs. We're putting 2 inches deep in the DT, and then about a 3' section of the 125 fuge will be DSB and macro algaes. DSB will be 5-6" deep in the fuge.
Also ordered 2 boxes of reef crystals. Our poor UPS guy... delivering the sand and the reef crystals, his poor back. Picked up another Radion xr30w Pro (wide lenses) Gen 3 light, putting us at 4. We actually have 5, but taking one back and going to order two more MP40 Quiet drives. After researching, we don't need 5 lights, and we know we need more flow, so it's a win win. What's the hold up now? Why isn't the tank setup? We only have one more thing to purchase, plumbing. Then the fun starts with drilling tanks and putting everything up in place. With how much we work and I travel for work, progress is slower than we wanted, but it's coming along. |

Thanks guys! We came home to Michigan from our Thanksgiving in Iowa today to find this on our front porch, was delivered today. SAND! Poor UPS guy...
Picked up two frags on a Black Friday sale, reverse superman monti and a meteor shower also. Both are pretty neat, they seemed to do alright on the 7 hour drive. We had a foam cooler and heat pack with us so we were prepared. We're in the works of planning our auto water change using the Apex and it's going to be pretty awesome! We have decided to change 30-40 gallons per week over 5 days, so changing 2 gallons at a time, two times a day, each time we feed. We will have the Apex setup to prep for feeding with an auto feeder, we will take advantage of this down time and dispose of two gallons of water into our QT tanks (2x 20L). The QT's overflow into each other, the overflow to the sink drain. Once feeding time is near the end, 2 gallons of fresh saltwater will go into the sump. When feelings over, all water levels are back where they were prior to feeding. (The reason to change it over 5 days is so I can mix more fresh saltwater on the 2 days we're not auto water changing) Good thing we started this thread.... I washed my phone in the washer today. My phone had over 11,000 pics on it... And of course I didn't back them up. Now we have this thread as not only a reference to hopefully help others, but our memories as well. |

One other thing. I ordered the Salifert tests online, I thought they were usually in a bigger box.... Need to check and see if I bought a refill kit or something. Hope not.

This is currently going down - buffing. Finding a lot more scratches on the outside than we thought. Inside and outside both are getting a full spa day, aka buffing. |

Spent a lot of time buffing my used 220. I know what that's like. Good looking build. Look forward to seeing it progress.

We are using compound, did you? If so, did you just rinse the heck out of it when you were finished? I'm worried of it leaving a trace of compound behind. Thanks for the compliment, it's coming along slowly but surely. |

Good deal, I was thinking of vinegar as well, better safe than sorry. We got about 3/4 of the inside finished. Did the inside entirely once, only to find out that we didn't do the first grit of sand paper on the deeper scratches. We then started from the beginning, concentrating on the deeper scratches. I took a dry erase marker to the outside of the tank and drew over every scratch that was on the inside, it really helped. Tomorrow we will be tackling the remaining 1/4 of inside, and do the outside. It's already so much better, I can't fathom how clear it's going to be with the outside done! |
