Deltec clone progress pic
Well, I finally got a chance to spend a little time working on the skimmer so I figured I'd post a pic of the dry test fit I did for the plumbing yesterday. The white pvc is just to dial in the right length - they will be replaced with gray. I haven't finished the riser/neck/Collection cup yet...Excuse the crappy pic- I need to get some better bmp to jpg software!

Looking very good and professional. Are those uniseals or bulkheads going thru the tubing?Looking forward to more updates.

I was originally going to use modified bulkheads but decided to try uniseals for ease of use and I'm glad I did. These things are tough and provide an excellent seal from what I can tell. When the pump is mounted it's pretty much as sturdy as a bulkhead with just enough give to alleviate any stress caused by bumping into the pump or moving it unintentionally....

Good to see that the uniseals are working out.Thats what I planned to use,but was wondering how they held up to the weight of a pump. Thanks for the info. Will have more questions for you as your progress continues.

Did you modify those Unions to sit flush with the uniseals? If so, what did you do? It looks fantastic!
Also, how did you make the venturi for the OR pumps? |

Thanks- me too! One thing I wanted to mention is that I used 1" plumbing for the pumps instead of 3/4" I figured it would reduce head pressure and result in better flow through. The threaded fittings on the pump are still 3/4" as are the black female adapters that transition from the pump to the 1" fittings...I guess we'll see how that works out soon....

Yes- I flush trimmed and wet sanded the unions to mount them closer to the body. After they're done, there's about 1/4" of gluable wall left as well as the flat area inside. I did some testing with this idea and found that it was extremely strong if primed and glued properly- I couldn't break it off no matter how hard I tried after it had time to dry...
