Thanks,I do believe the growth is about 25 percent less than the reeflux 12 k bulbs i ran prior which by the way i got good color from also. The best growth i got was from xm 10k .unfortunately i really did not have the popping colors i was looking for.As my tank became overgrown with corals my goal switched to trying to get better colors and not so much concern on the fast growth.

I can see how you would have a rough time keeping the tank BB you seem to have a lot of stuff on the bottom of the tank and against the tank back wall. Was this making it hard to keep things clean?? How are you finding the sand and how much/what type did you put in. I'm curious because I'm trying to make the BB/DSB decision on my upgrade (54"x36wX24h)
thanks,i appreciate the kind words
I have tried florida live sand and the carib sea bagged stuff with the same results
I have been back and forth with the sand about 6 times in the last 10 years and i am leaning toward bare bottom for giving me the best results. The sand would always become a problem after a few years and start creating negative results.i would notice some color loss in some of the acroporas and sometimes algae start cropping up .after vacuming and removing sections with weekly water changes things would start looking good again leading me to remove it all eventually. My opinion is if your goal is to grow acroporas then bare bottom is the way to go.it allows you to keep the nutrients low as possible and create some strong flow without blowing sand around

Thanks.....I've been going back and forth on a SSB and BB for the 3 years I've been in the hobby and found SSB can be a problem after time but if you don't stay on top of keeping a BB system clean then it can be a problem too. My tank will be BB but it's going to be 4' x 3' and open with rocks supported on acrylic rods so I can keep things clean. Oh and RDSB with sugar fine sand as well to take care of nitrate.

Dan it was nice to meet you on Sat. at the frag swap and thank you for the deal at the end of the day. The three Acro frags all were out last night when I put them in the tank in about 5-15minutes.
For anyone who wants to know, Dan has some better than nice stuff, color and size of frags A+++.
Thanks again Dan, hope to see you again sometime soon. Are you going to the one at TFP in January? Have a good one.
Matt

+1 on Dan's amazing frags! Very friendly & down to earth fellow reefer. I get the pleasure of living 20 miles from him. As long as Dan has frags available i know where ill be shopping

I want to add on to Tripkidd and Ricunger's comments. The frags I got for firesale prices yesterday from Dan's setup are looking great. It was great meeting everyone yesterday and I am happy to be a proud new member of NCPARS.

Wow,where do i start.I would have to say the nicest people i have met in my life i have met thru coral reef keeping.I dont know if its because people who love corals are just the nicest people in the world or some other unexplaned phenomenon .However i do get great pleasure knowing some of the corals i have grown out from tiny frags to large mature colonies now are in someone elses tank hopefully doing the same.Anyway thank you for all the nice things you guys have said.Hopefully i will take some pics in a week or two and get some posted but i am fresh out right about now.LOL here are a couple i had hanging around that i dont think i posted as of yet.

thanks everyone,i haven't had time to take any photos recently but they will be coming soon.I added a couple Tunze 6101 pumps and a multi controller to the tank to beef up the flow.I am impressed with the flow they make and how much happier the sps corals are since i added them.
