I currently have a 20 long that is housing 3 clowns that I received from a friend who was raising them. There were originally 6. One is in the IM 40 now and paired up with a store bought clown, one jumped, one was bullied and moved to a friend's tank, and the three remaining seems to be getting on just fine. They have hosted a frogspawn corral and there is also a RBTA baby in the same tank. So that would be the starting point for this tank once I move the existing inhabitants to the new setup.

Sorry for the mistake. Just had a chance to get back on. I meant the 1st or 5th chamber. |

LOL. In my first chamber I have a custom caddy with FF, some rock rubble and chaeto. Second, I have the Ghost skimmer, third return pump, fourth, MiniMax reactor with rowaphos and fifth, custom caddy with FF, purigen and chemipure. I want a new skimmer that will fit the second chamber. |

I run filter socks with filter floss, and have no intentions of changing that. Rather put up with the ghost

My set up is 1 filter sock, 2 Santa Monica 1.6 drop in algae scrubber, 3 heater and probes,4 intake and return for aquamax hob1 skimmer, 5 custom caddy with filter floss carbon and purigen. This set up allows me to have 6 small fish and perfect parameters for sps.
Skimmer collect about 2/3 cup of dark skim a week and the scrubber gets filled with hair algae once a month.

Before I drop the $$ on the Tunze DOC 9004 DC skimmer....is it really that much better than the ghost? Or is it just assumed better because it's Tunze? I had the 9001 on my biocube and was less than impressed with it. Don't want to repeat that mistake with this one.
After lowering my water level in the back a bit, the ghost has been pretty stable. Albeit a little noisy? Would I gain a little quietness with the Tunze? |

I can't really say it's better than ghost because I never owned a ghost but I can tell u since I set up tank 7 months ago I have not touch the tunze skimmer other than to clean cup. It's set and forget. Like stated early it's skims dry and constant. It has a feed button where skimmer turns off for 10 min which is pretty cool when feeding or changing filter floss

My stock pump has become a buzzing machine after 3 months...
THink I will get a SICCE.... I assume the SICCE Syncra 2.0 is the one to get. If you have one... 1. Does it fit in the sump with no tricks or issues 2. What fittings will I need to pipe it up to piping that came with system.... seem Syncra 2.0 is 3/4 fitting?? Do I need some sort of adapter to hook up to stock tubing in IM 40? If I need fittings, please be specific...do I put a reducer of some sort BEFORE the "Y" adapter, or do I need to replumb everything to 3/4 tubing ?? |

Tunze makes great products and in some ways I'm sure it's better. But it doesn't fit where I needed it to and I'm happy with my current setup. Also, I'm adding my ato when the stuff I need for it gets here at the end of the week. I'm sure that will help it run more efficiently and less touchy. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk

I might stick with the ghost for now and see how it goes. Mine doesn't produce microbubbles either and seems to produce better skimmate now that I lowered the water level overall a bit. |

Hey all, if you where only going to buy a IM stand for this tank, which one do we choose, Piano preboard black or new APS alluminum stand ( wood grain only right now)? I was looking to get a stand built, but issue have put that in major delay. Want to get up and running. thanks for all opinions.....
