Liveaquaria DD — dead or alive

So I fell in love with this scolymia on divers den and bought it. Of course the shipment got delayed and it arrived a day late and cold. I dipped and have it in low light and low flow. From the picture of how it arrived, is it dead or alive? Should I contact them or wait to see if it is ok?

You have 14 days. I would wait a little bit.

Thanks. He is looking worse and worse. I think he is dead. 300 dollars worth of disappointment.

Go for the guarantee. But likewise, never discard a plate: they have a way of resurrecting from out of the skeleton, a dozen baby plates. Same with brain coral, even hammer.

Ok! I sent them some photos. I’m so sad. He was really cool. They said they would look for a replacement. Other corals I have gotten there worked out great. I think he got too cold.

Years ago I had a scoly lose the oral disc but retain some of the outer tissue. I put it in my frag tank that was tied into my system and just left it alone. It eventually regrew 3 mouths and turned into 3 smaller scoly that were basically clones of the original.

Yeah don't pitch that coral. If anything put it out of line of sight and let it be for a while. If there is any tissue left it could survive

The mouth is gone but there is tissue. It was beautiful so I will put it in a spot that has low flow but hard to see. It gets light but is behind some rock. I hope they find me another one.

I’ve only had one coral die so this is making me very sad.

Up date on my Scoly. He is not dead yet. Mouth is closed and he has gained back some flesh. He does not look anything like the picture in diver’s den.

Anyone know what those two big bumps are? Those were not in the DD Picture either.

How well is his recovery going? Should I ask for at least some sort of refund?
