What I thought was VELVET???
1st may I start off with a thank you all for the incredible amount of help over the years!
This one s me stumped for sure! I thought for sure i was dealing with a Velvet Outbreak on a white cheek tang and a coral Beauty. In a panic I ran out and got the QT tank fired up. I did a fresh water dip (5:00) and put them both in the QT tank. Now they were covered in all the normal ways you would expect to see on a tang and CB. after a day in a QT tank with Cupeamine its gone I mean all gone as if it never happened gone. To be fair its been over 10 years since i had even Ick to deal with so i could hit the panic button to soon? Any thoughts? i can add some current pics but i did not take any yesterday in my panic. It’s not gone. Happened to my YT. Came back a few days later and within 48 hours my YT was dead.
Keep treating for it and treat aggressively!!

thank you that is a lot a great info. Its a fine line of panic to act and making sure it really is what you think it is.

Just had, what I’m pretty sure was, velvet take out my tank so I’ve been doing a lot of reading up on it.
That site has a lot of great info.

UV doesn’t do much good in a closed system. It may kill some, but not enough to really matter.
Treat with a good copper med for 4-6 weeks. Leave the main tank fishless for 6-8 weeks. Velvet can be nasty and quick. |

i wish i could, to much coral to treat the whole tank. i have the 2 in QT and are doing well all things considered. I'm keeping a close eye on the main tank and no one is showing symptoms or signs..

I meant move all fish to QT and treat that tank with copper and leave main fishless. Or did you mean too much coral to catch the fish?

both! So i did some research and tried Rally's Ruby treatment in the whole tank. Its been a rough 3 days for the fish and Coral but they have all bounced back really well. Fish are doing great and showing signs of recovery. The amount of Crap in the filter socks was amazing, i had no idea so many parasites were in there! kinda makes me want to use it once a year or so.
