I'm really interested to see if other can replicate these results. It indicates to me that leaving a little residual in your container may lead to phosphate problems. I can see this leading to frustration when searching for a source of phosphates when you're seemingly doing everything right.

8 ppb to 74 ppb is a disturbingly high change. I probably would ditch the containers, too, at this point. They are relatively cheap. A good cleaning with vinegar might help a lot, though. It's possible that the phosphate is entering via the ambient air, I guess.
