okay, i got my new tank yesterday. im soooooo very much excited to start it. im LOVING the sunpod because of what features it has. ima picture-holic and like threads that contains lots of them. so enough talk

well, i bought the tank from drfostersmith.com and the sunpod came with it for just under $300 after s&h. the sunpod alone is i think $220 maybe less and it is the 16.5" one. you will love this light

hi ppl, is it necessary to have lights on regularly during cycling?

EDIT--i have the moonlights on only, especially the white LED's

did a parameter test today and i have basic test kit:
ammonia<0
nitrite<0
nitrate<5
pH<8.0 (need to raise it)
salinity< 1.023
temp< COLD COLD COLD, no heater, no thermometer (need to buy these)

im not the best at picture taking..
i aquascaped the other day so the rocks arent high up the tank

i think i can do without the coraline even though they look nice.

5 days into cycling. guess my tank is doing fairly well since ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates are testing 0 now? which clean up crew would be best in a 12 nano?

Coraline is pretty essential; I would put the system on a short photoperiod.

a lot of sand? yeah i know. it took away 2 gallons of water from my tank. post your pictures gsechen! i would like to see them since you have the same tank as i do.

I gather the large amount of sand will serve as a deep sand bed, right? Arn't these supposed to be good?

I agree that you should start your running your lights. Minnor amounts (given that nitrates and phosphates are in check) of micro algee will also start to grow, diatoms and what not. Other, sand bed animals and bacteria will eat these and help the whole deep sand bed ecosystem start to work.

yes the dsb should help control nitrate levels. well, i should start to turning on the lights. i just didnt want to use the halide until i really get some livstock. but, if its for the best then i guess i have to?
man, i havnt seen anyone here on RC that is currently in sac. guess sac reefers like to have their reef private?

i read alot of people who say that the pictures really dont capture the true color of MH's. i dont really know what they meant by that, but now im in their position when i say that it REALLY doesnt capture the true color. its more bluer and looks ALOT better in person. for people who have an itch to upgrade from PC to MH, then i say DO IT! really worth it imo

yup, i got a heater today. i also got a cheap thermometer. 13 bucks altogether. im going to start to leave the light on for more hrs now everyday, and then the LED's 24/7.
