It is the same one on the 9410, all the skimmers use this now.

Thanks Roger.
Just confirming that part 9410.500 will fit the outlet pipe of the 9420 skimmer https://www.aquariumgallery.com.au/p...ilter-9410-500 Thanks |

I managed to get hold of a 9410.500 off a friend (he has a 9410 skimmer and isn't using this sock/collector).
It seems to have a (very) small step in the 50mm hole and I can't get it all the way onto the 50mm riser. The first part slips on until it hits the step - then it is really tight (read push it on). Is this expected or is there a trick to making it fit on? |

I also trimmed 1 inch off the stanard outlet pipe height and the overflow is working as per the video.
https://youtu.be/6vILMf69bvE The skimmate is from around 24 hours. Not sure if its to late or to dark or what? Thanks |

The video shows it working correctly, that is about the color skimmate I would expect. Yes, the basket fits tight, the pipe is shorter now on the 9415. For the 9410 a reducer bushing is inserted in it and that is removed for 9415 and 9430.

Thanks Roger. I measured the inside of the 9410.500 I have. The *larger* part measures 50.9mm, then it steps down to 49mm. Does that sound right? Do I just force it on?
Hopefully my (bad) picture makes sense. |

You won't force it, just install it until it stops, my main point was you may have to cut the pipe slightly to compensate the slight added height.

Thanks Roger. That makes perfect sense.
I was reading the 9410 manual (as it's a 9410 part) and under the section of making the skimmer more silent it suggests lowering the ring to just above the water line - it doesn't mention this on the 9415/30 manual. None of the pics have it lowered either. Thanks again for your patience. |

On the 9410 the pipe goes completely through the adapter so you can move it up and down on the pipe, on the bigger models there is a hard stop at the top and it can't slide down the pipe.

Hi guys,
Did any of you end up adding a drain on your skimmer cup ? Cheers, Gab |

I run a 6mm (1/4") JG tube into one of the air holes (has to drill it out slightly) and use a liter meter to pump 2L/day out and into a waste line.
Not the same as a drain line, but does the same thing. If the skimmer ever went nuts and produced more than 2L skimmate/day or the Liter meter failed then the cup could overflow. I could overcome this by adding a float switch into the lid to kill the skimmer should the cup fill I guess. |

Cheers for the reply Macca !!
Nice idea. I was thinking either an in line pump through the lid activated by a level switch, or drilling a hole in the cup at a level just below the top of the neck so that it would only drain when the cup is full..... I just want a back up for when I'm not home for a few days. Cheers, Gab |

Just be sure to buy a good plastic drill bit, with standard drill bits it can crack, plastic drill bits tend to be a "coarser" pitch and very sharp.
