a little bit, but you have no coloration in the material liek you do with glass
ie no green, or blue tint.

Nice, do you have an issue with scratching the panel since you have a sandbed?

its i guess you can say inevitable... but then again its also inevitable with a glass tank too...
one just has to take care how its cleaned.... I have some real tiny scratches on the tank, but nothing that will cause it to be unpleasant to the eye ![]() Oh and thanks escaped ape .... im still working on the Majanos, they are hard lil guys to get rid of lol.

Sheesh, sorry to hear about your fish. I had the same rough road when I first set up my tank. That just doesn't look like Majano to me, but it could be the angle. Any chance of a better pic?

yea, its some type of pest nem for sure lol.... i actually just went to town earlier today with ripping out all kinds of algae by hand! i think i may have bryopsis
..... but some of it looked to be dying when i was ripping it out. I have had enough lol tomorrow we shal have a bigger clean up crew to handle the algae. Dont get me wrong i dont mind a little algae here in and there for the natural look but when the algae is starting to over take some of my SPS is where i draw the line lol.I had a cup of Wonton Soup that i put the algae in, i took some pics i will post up here soon, as well as some update pics for everyone. There is def some growth going on, i just need to add more food! my skimmer is out doing me right now lol. Nitrates are at zero... but i fear that phos is there, bc when i feed the tank frozen i usually dont rinse the food. So i started doing that this week. Hopefully i will see a diff soon, and i can add a new tang or i even contemplated a rabbit fish and then once he is done tearing the rock works algae up put it in my dads 210 lol. But hopefully 2 lettuce nudies, a 3 mexicans, and i did not want to do it but a few hermits as well as an emrald or two(for small bubble algae). On a good note, I have my doser going dosing 3 times a day, 4pm then at 6pm then at 8pm..... spreading it out like 8mins for each time @ 1.5ml per min im getting around 36ml a day. Good starting point for SPS frags, once they start to really grow im sure i will be at 1ml per gallon of water. Will post some new pics soon. |

Going pretty good. I left someone to take care of my tank while i was away and they overdosed on alk and it killed most of my SPS.

oh damn matt that sucks bro
.... so here are some update pics..... had to change over to a 250W hqi before i got my surgery since the ICECAP 660 burned out one of my bulbs.... go figure.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Things are looking better and the bubble algae is now turning clear, but i will find it floating around sometimes and soon as it hits the vortech... well im dont know when this bubble algae will be gone lol. so here is the stocking list of fish as of right now and the skimmer is still has room for more ![]() 3 Anthias 2 True Percs 3 Trimma Gobies(less than 1" stick in the rocks a lot) 1 Yellow Coris wrasse 3 Blue Chromis ??? 1 Blue neon goby(but i think the darn emrald crab got to him/her while it was sleeping ) SPS still have about the same ones no new additions since i want them to grow.... I do want however to still get a blue mille, Garf Bonsai, Pink lemonade, and rainbow acro.... should finish it off... Thanks. |

thanks
![]() Dutch, the coris just swims around picking at the rock for pods and flatworms(have yet to see one in my tank ) does not really show aggression to any tankmates.... the anthias are actually the most aggressive right now.for other fish, since my skimmer still working in the low of the efficiency, i might add some bottom dwellers. I am thinking a tailspot goby, and a mandarin. I am at the point wehre I feel like the tank is ready for the mandarin since i see mysid shrimp, and tons and i mean tons of pods swimming around thet ank at night..... but i am going to wait another month. Soon as i find a tailspot though im going to add it. I am also still working on finding a pair of bluestripe pipes.... basically want to add as much diversity of small fish as possible .... 12 fish and so far everyone is happy!!! specially the SPS! my mille has tons of new growth, and the red planet already has 2 new branches . If only the bubble algae was not there iw ould be 100% happy!!!

Hey MADtanks! Tank is looking great! I just have some questions...how many vortechs are you using in your tank? Any other pumps used for flow inside the DT? And what are your comments regarding the vortechs? We have almost the same tank size and Im in the process of deciding what to use for circulation.
There are just so many contradicting issues with regards vortechs.

only thing for flow in the tank is 1 vortech, although all the SPS are happy i believe i need more flow. I say this bc there are in fact dead spots in places around the sand bed. mostly in the back, and close to the rock work..... I have been really contemplating getting 2 or 3 tunze 6055s and a controller, but a second vortech might achieve the same result so im holding off. I have yet to have any issues with the vortech, so my opinion if you can afford 2 mp20s you would be golden. I am runing 1 40, but hopefully i can run 2 mp20s or just add another mp40.
Hope all that mumbling helped.... im a little out of it right now since i just took 2 perkasits for my pain (just had shoulder surgery).... Thanks for the kind words too

Thanks bro! Hope your shoulder feels better soon.
The mp20's wont work in my tank because i used 1/2 inch thick glass so the mp40's would be the only choice. Right now my best option is to get 1 mp40 and maybe additional wavers/powerheads that can be directed towards the deadspots. What do you think? |
