Try these bulbs with your light fixture. Puts out more light with less energy.

I just saw that kit at the LFS, but didn't even think twice about it. I might have to go back and check it out because I have been considering getting a rimless tank. Thanks! (subscribed)

Thanks! I didn't know either till I lifted the hood and was like WOO HOO!! and the black silicone is sexay!
I have not seen them on line yet...I went crazy looking and couldn't find it, I asked my LFS why and thay said that HAGEN is super picky about vendors and that the tank just came out...they also have 20H and a 5.5 same rimless and black silicone, they also come in a kit...I may get the 20H after the contest

Do you plan on adding a sump or refugium, and if so do you plan on drilling it?

Looks interesting .....

Before going any further I suggest filling the tank with water and checking out how much the glass deflects. It could be engineered under the assumption the lid is left on and the lid is actually a structural part of the tank. Even with a rim my 10's bow about 1/8 of an inch (just to give you a frame of reference).

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade but....

It's not really rimless. There's a reason why that tank comes as a kit with that hood. That hood is the actual brace for the rim. If you aren't planning on using the hood then you're probably going to have problems in the future. You can buy any tank and remove the brace to make it rimless....

I just don't want to see a post in a few months saying...bad news the seals broke. Good luck

I FW tested it for 2 days no problems...the bottom is brace different than the standard 10g's and the hood does nothing but sit on top...it's not fitted tightly at all...

I bought the sunpod used...they are discontinued so it's hard to find.

Thanks guys!

If the rim was that important to the structural stability of the tank, I doubt the company would make it so you have to remove it every time one were to perform maintenance on the tank, which from the pictures seems to be the only way to do so.

I agree with mattskims and I think an eighth of an inch isn't going to be noticed. Look at a lot of AIOs, the whole front is bowed.

Here are some close up pix of the rim and bottom trim I took for someone else that was curious to see how well they beveled the edges
you can see how much further in it goes on the bottom of the tank than the standards

from the inside

and outside

I looked for information on these tanks and could not find anything...not even on the Hagen website, I just happened upon it at my LFS. I asked the owner why I can't find them on line and he says that Hagen is very picky about their vendors and also these tanks just hit the market, so I am sure soon you will be able to find them in more places like Petsmart.

IT"S ALIVE!! ALIVE!!! muhahahahahaha *cough*

I only added 5lbs of sand...filled with 4g of water from my 29g and the rest fresh NSW.
Waiting for the water to heat up a bit for the rock
And boooo! went to hook up my HOB and it is missing a part that covers the impellar, I looked all over and can't find it I have piles of fish crap haha so I am using the JBJ pico filter and just ordered another HOB from DFS. They don't sell that part and I this filter with the surface skimmer.

I added the other 5lbs of sand....and I can't see shiz now...also borrowed the HOB from my 29g
