Blue Midas Blenny?!
So I purchased a Midas Blenny because I had one several years ago. I really liked the color and the personality of the fish. So I took a shot with my first online order since I wasn't able to find one locally after months and months of looking.
When I first opened him up he was really dark and blotchy, no surprise because I know they turn colors when stressed. Usually it's a camo sort of pink. Well after several days, this one indeed colored up...but he's not yellow! Well, not the yellow I see on most of these fish. Take a look! How uncommon is a fish like this? I didn't even know they existed until I did a google search, I only found one other picture even close to mine. I really was after the yellow version, but this guy has amazing colors. I am very happy with him! It's REALLY hard to capture the color...he's almost a pearl blue because depending how the lights hit his body he's either more blue/purple or more yellow. I'll see if I can come up with some better shots.

DD had a blue one a few weeks back. I'm still kicking myself in the butt for not grabbing it.

Mine was blue when I first got it then turned golden yellow. DD marketed him as "blue" midas blenny. I'm not sure if there really is a true blue midas blenny. I think it just changes color to match its surroundings when it feels like it.

The one I got a month ago looks just like these. It colors up a little, but not the typical golden color.

Mine was Blue when first purchased then it started to turned to a normal gold color, didn't paid too much attention until I saw this thread. Could it be due to stress and now it has acclimated to my water params it has turned to its normal color.

Mine was the normal gold/yellow when I saw it in the store and bought it. When I got it home I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me because it was blue for about the first 3 weeks. It slowly returned back to its gold/yellow color.

Didn't mean to go off the topic, since us midas blenny owners are gathering around here.
The yellow/light blue midas blenny I got is about 4.5" healthy and beautiful, eating flakes 2 hrs in the water. his behavior is however, what i have been worry about. 5 mins in the water he found a good hole right in the center where my clown pairs called home. The female clown is not happy at all but the midas just won't budge open his mouth wide back at her. it's the 3rd day now. he still live in there. And also on the 2nd day my firefish disappeared it seems the other smaller fishes are also afraid of him. this is my report....

Any update on you guys' midas blennies? I just picked one up today. Worried about aggression after reading orangegoby's story.

The one I have goes from bright yellow to light blue to dark purple. I think they have a wide range of color depending on mood and stress.

I am happy to say that my Midas has calmed down significantly and most aggression has disappeared. He doesn't seem to like my pair of Wisconsin white clowns, but they give each other space. He is also eating like a pig, even from my hand at this point. I make sure I keep him well fed, they are very active and expel a lot of energy.
