tyree most wanted capricornis

just curious if anyone here has the original tyree most wanted capricornis aka leng sy cap. if you do have it, please post a pic.
i've emailed tyree about it a few times to ask about the coloration of the piece but have not gotten a response from him. perhaps
he's in withdrawal after losing such a beautiful piece.

here is the pic of it. notice the white polyps on contrasting green flesh w/ purple rim. most green caps you see have the same colored polyps w/ purple rim.

the going rate is $200+ for a very small frag, and you are right 64Ivy, nobody will come forward because their mail boxes will be loaded with PM's.

I'm getting a silver dollar sized frag for around $70.00
($100.00 if he could get it to me by Daves swap). I think it came all the way from Japan and yes, it has already been traced back to Steve Tyree. It's quite a nice peice. I haven't seen it around too much.

Graham

PS. Please, I don't want to come on the site and see I have over 10 PM's. Try not to give me a PM on where I got it, I'm not sure if the seller wants me to give out his email address.

If you are talking about who im thinking about and about the same pieces its a fluke. Dont think for one sec its the same piece. I have been in the hobby for quite some time and no it is not it!!! Sorry to dissapoint you. It is however a nice copy but again not it.

Kozmo,

Where did you get teh price 200 bucks a frag?

Give me a few months ill step up jp

Reefer,

Good luck on getting a positive id..I have spoke to Tyree my self and tracy three of us has seen the Leng sy..Polyps are not white. They are more on the purple side but we can be wrong.

I know it's out there, and I know someone who has it, but for obvious reasons I can't say anything. I don't have it, but am waiting in a long line. Hopefully we can get enough frags going that we don't have to worry about any mysterious colony crashes again. Like the Seattle blue tort, the best way to enjoy a rare colony is to spread frags everywhere so that if you lose your colony you always have someone to go to for a backup.

(And no, I can't frag my Seattle blue, either give me a few months)

turtle,
its funny that tyree and grey say that yet they cant provide a pic to back it up. the only pics that are on the net show white polyps. perhaps steve was looking at it w/ his purple glasses..lol

anyone with pics to verify this? tyree or anyone?

I was at Tyree's a few years ago and we picked up several corals. Amoung those frags, we picked up this one:

You got to remember that those pics above were taken under 20K bulbs (Tyrees preferred choice) so the coloration is a bit intense. The coral I have has been kept under 10Ks but you can see the purple rim and the white polyps. I also cannot confirm that they are the same coral.

That pic is over a year old but the coral has managed to keep that coloration.

Carlos

Hello all,

I just took my 10"x10" colony out of my display tank and put it in the prop tank 2 days ago due to limitted space in my 120g. I didn't know this is the coral that alot of people are looking for. Post has been edited by moderator due to commerical content

I will post a pic later cause i am at work right now.

John

Green tyree cap

I've got the piece and mine is just starting to show all the characteristics of the piece tyrees pictured. I'm keeping it under the 175 on left side of tank. I have a 400 radium over center of tank that feeds to left as well. But none have colored up like that photo Steve has posted. Mine shows all the white polyps. If someone can post photo I can email it. 80% of frags in my tank are tyrees and greys. Ray

i have seen a few puprple rim green caps with white polyps, I have two varieties but what makes that one so special is the tuberculae/nodules on the interior.

Will the Real Leng Sy cap please stand up?

Yeah, that's the Leng Sy Ecosystem cap in their ads which burned a spot in my brain. I would love to see a recent picture of this puppy in someone's system. The color and structure of this sps are unforgettable. If this is like other caps, it should be a fast grower, and with the technology and knowledge reefkeepers have today, we should get this wondrous specimen in a lot more tanks.

I'm getting the frag from Carlos (Pucci). He did email me a picture, but, I am not able to copy and post it on here for some reason (it hasn't saved to my computer). Carlos said he tries to frag it once a month. I do trust Carlos, and I wouldn't expect him to be selling a fake.

He's not worried about blowing his cover, I was just cautious not to give his email out (I know some people don't like to give their email out).

www.xtremeaquatics.com

Here's a quick picture I found of the PE I'm talking about:
It was bigger in the picture he gave me via email, but this was the best I could find of his. If it's a fake, I'll be quite suprized.
