Just curious, are you using a canister filter as your primary biological filter? These tend to increase nitrate over time. Do you have a sump?

^^ I also think I need a new one is because i need one that will filter more GPH.
Yes i am using a canister as a primary filter. I will say this again the reason that I want a new one is because the one that i have is EXTREMELY noisy, and I bought it used. No I do not have a sump. And I do not have enough money to buy a skimmer.
But my fish so fine I have had my black clowns for almost a year, and I have a chromis that i have also almost have had for a year. I have a sea urchin that i got from myrtle beach that is I have since august of 2008.
You probably need a new impeller.Got 3 marineland 350 and an FX5 cannister filter with a tank we bought.Recently setup one of the 350 to run carbon and it is very quiet.
