I'm looking for a recommendation for a contractor/handyman that can drill a ~1" hole through a granite countertop and stainless steel sink. I'm installing an RO in the kitchen sink and would normally DIY, but the risk of cracking the counter is too great.
This is in the SGV. Thanks.

Hi there i am a custom carpenter and home remodeler i could help you out with your situation but i must tell you it is very easy to diy in this case you would just need a drill best corded since cutting through granite takes alot of battery power and u will also need a diamond whole saw bought at home depo for under 10 bucks. these two things plus water wil get the job done but if you dont want to diy yourself i would be more than happy to do for cheap or maybe trade for some coral let me know

Thanks Derek for the reply. My biggest fear is cracking the granite which I hear is possible if done incorrectly. Are you/will you be in the LA area? If so I may enlist your help, otherwise I'll see what my options are.

I come up to the la area all the time just let me know when you woud like to do it. Do you either have a cordless drill or power drill. Would you be willing to throw down some coral for my assistance and drive? Its only a 20 dollar ride for me since i am on a bike let me know what you wanna do and we can maybe work something out for next week or weekend

No disrespect to derekarch21, but I would recommend you go to a professional counter installer. Imagine the horror of cracking or chipping the counter. You're talking about risking a few thousand dollars for probably a $100 job. When we had our counters installed they used some seriously high-speed drill and sprayed water while drilling. It took two guys to do and looked very intense.

Its really simple to do ive done it a 1000 times. And i am not quite sure how to take your post tikalize was that negative or positive? Seemed positive and i thank you if so. If you read my post you would have seen i said " you need a corded drill, diamond head whole saw, and water" it doesnt take two guys i dont even see where the second guy would come in handy.

100% Positive. You stated that you are a custom carpenter and home remodeler. I think that may qualify to cut holes in a counter top. I have a carpentry background also (not my profession now) & did counter tops plenty of times. I dont think you absolutely need a Professional CI to get the job done.

it doesnt take two guys i dont even see where the second guy would come in handy. You need the second guy to hand you another beer when you are empty. LOL.

ha ha Funny yeah well i thank you for backing me up. You will just end up spendig way more money than you want to by calling a Counter top installer. I have drilled my own tanks fr sumps before and drilling glass is far harder than granite
thanks tika
