I know this isn't completely reef related...

The florescent lights in my garage are starting to hum and bulbs are going dim. I have a bunch of led's and a couple drivers from previous builds I'd like to repurpose.

Any idea how many neutral whites would be equal to two 32 watt t8's? Also, do you think there would be any heat issues?

Thanks.

Just compare the lumen output from the shop light bulbs to your specific LEDs at whatever current you plan to use, add it up and you're done.

I've done several re-purposed shop lights retrofitted with LEDs on aluminum c channel for plant lights, works fine.

you can get LED shop light or direct replacement LED fluorescent tubes from costco.
if the ballast is bad, just get the shop light fixture. If it is just the bulb, then just get the replacement LED tube. not exactly diy though.

Just using figures of the top of my head, 3000 lumens per tube, that equates to roughly 9 or 10 LEDs driven at 1000mA......results will vary depending on LED make and model, but that's a rough guestimate.

I was at Lowes the other day and they have LED replacement T8 bulbs.
