Filling the spare tank.

Posted 11/12/2014 at 07:48 PM by Despairodyne

I used the Petco 1$ a gallon sale to pick up a 29g.

The plan was to use a 20L as a sump and make a small spare aquarium in the fish room. An opportunity to play with new equipment as well as having a place for livestock to live if and when I have an IM issue.

I like being prepared for disaster.

First up for evaluation is a pair of Sicce nano power heads on a Sicce controller. Also some experimentation on various heaters. In the winter, the heaters...

Time to fill it with water

Posted 11/12/2014 at 03:16 PM by Despairodyne

Two new inTank baskets are going to cost me about 100 bucks.

I've got a Tunze 9004 skimmer and a Tunze ATO for it as well as two Kessil
360Ws and a pair of MP10s. A ViaAqua 200W heater and an Apex controller round out the package.
I really wanted a min/max reactor but we'll see how this aquarium hold up first.
Giving IM any more of my money makes me Perhaps the rock work will
be set up as a giant middle finger; just like the one IM's giving me....

Built from parts scavenged from a local hobo camp.

Won't let me post a link to an image. Kinda makes some of this blog thing a little difficult.

OK, so now it does.

Rubbermaid Feed-Seed

Posted 11/02/2014 at 06:59 PM by Despairodyne

I have a brand new 20 gallon Rubbermaid Feed-Seed container that's just the right size. It's listed as food safe and BPA free. I'm going to use it to make saltwater. What could go wrong? Well....

I have this friend we call "Million Dollar" Tim. Tim lives by the maxim "most folks worry about too many damned things". And Tim would know since he's been struck by lightning twice and had his car horn stuck on when driving behind some of them hell's angels fellers....

Actually, not at all unfair to IM

Posted 10/30/2014 at 12:42 PM by Despairodyne

There is a half dollar sized blemish on the front of my Fusion 30L. Looks like a puddle that's had a pebble dropped in the center. A circular sag if you can picture it.

For a 500.00 30g tank, the glass should be flawless. If I had known, I would have had a custom acrylic AIO made for about the same cost. It's too expensive to send it back (even if they would take it) so I guess it is destined to be the most expensive 30 gallon frag tank ever.

I'm sure only a few...
