There are not many pics out there of Foraminiferans in aquariums. However, the available aquarium pics that claim to have Foraminiferans are the closest resemblance to the grey fuzz I had. Moreover, the fact that they feed on bacteria fits the observations too. Yeah, that's a possibility.
