Ok, so I figured maybe it was time to share my setup with you all
The tank has been set up for a few months now!
Specs:
- 40 gallon breeder display
- ~17 gallon sump
- 50 breeder sump
- 250 watt lumenbright w/ 12k reflux bulb
- Vortech MP40w for flow
- Mag12 for return
- MSX200 skimmer
- Dosing DIY 2-part, mag and VSV
First is my equipment room/office
I took this one so you could see where the display is relative to the equipment...
The pipe on top is the drain from the display. The one coming from the 17 gal is where I do my water changes. I originally had it plumbed through the wall to a drain in the floor in the closet, but after my first 20 gal sump cracked, I never hooked It back up again. The bottom pipe is the return to the display. Teed off of the return is 3/8 line that feeds my diy media reactor.
In the adjacent closet, I have a 44gal ro storage and 20gal saltwater storage. To do a water change ( I do 10 gal/week) I just drain 10 gals from the 17gal sump, then open the ball valve from the saltwater storage and fill it back up. Takes about 3 min to complete!
