My Setup
Ok, so I figured maybe it was time to share my setup with you all
 The tank has been set up for a few months now! Specs: - 40 gallon breeder display - ~17 gallon sump - 50 breeder sump - 250 watt lumenbright w/ 12k reflux bulb - Vortech MP40w for flow - Mag12 for return - MSX200 skimmer - Dosing DIY 2-part, mag and VSV First is my equipment room/office   I took this one so you could see where the display is relative to the equipment...  The pipe on top is the drain from the display. The one coming from the 17 gal is where I do my water changes. I originally had it plumbed through the wall to a drain in the floor in the closet, but after my first 20 gal sump cracked, I never hooked It back up again. The bottom pipe is the return to the display. Teed off of the return is 3/8 line that feeds my diy media reactor. In the adjacent closet, I have a 44gal ro storage and 20gal saltwater storage. To do a water change ( I do 10 gal/week) I just drain 10 gals from the 17gal sump, then open the ball valve from the saltwater storage and fill it back up. Takes about 3 min to complete!

Now the display. It is drilled in the two top corners with 1" bulkheads. I raised the stand up off the floor about 5¨ so the drains would be able to make it into the next room and into the sump.

a few more pics...
     I pretty much designed this system with an upgrade in mind (seems inevitable in this hobby ) My next tank will be a 36x36x? where I can just disconnect the plumbing, move the 40 out, and "plug" the new tank in without having to change too much.Hope you enjoyed! The bubbles in your skimmer make it look like it was made out of white PVC. *jealous* |

Thanks for the comments guys!
as far as the rockwork goes. I wanted to keep it open and off the back wall to provide as much swimming room as possible. Thats where loosehip comes in, he is the aquascape guru... as well as a descent stand builder (i bought his old 40 setup) |
