Bulging Eye

Bulging Eye.jpg

Went away on vacation and came back and my Pajama Cardinal has 1 severely bulging eye. Neither eye is cloudy so I don't think its popeye. Not that it matters but all the fish have gone through quarantine and this particular fish is more than 5 years old. No new fish have been added to the tank in 24+ months. He still moves the eye. Is this an injury that will eventually heal or do I need to pull him out and put him into a treatment tank.

Tank Stats
250 gallons
all chemical levels are great - best tank parameters I have ever had. Bigger is definitely better for stable water parameters.
