Live Rock/ Live Sand Question
Last night I added 60 Lbs of live sand and today in the after noon i added another 80lbs of live sand. I still have another 10lbs to add to it but I have a concern the sand I added to day was sand that I bought from a local that has videos on Youtube of himself getting sand/live rocks from the Florida Keys. The sand looks great but I was wondering if anyone has ever used sand that was brought back from the ocean near the reefs and put it into a tank? Another thing is that I have 50 Lbs of dry rock I wanted to know if i should Aquascape now or wait a couple days?

You'll hear mixed reviews on this one. Most people start out with a packaged sand like caribsea etc... If the sand is in fact from the reef's located by the keys it is technically the same stuff, only you run the risk of getting unwanted hitchhikers. But as far as I'm concerned, you should be fine. If you didn't cloud your tank up with the sand and you can see what you're doing, you can aquascape right now.

As long as the sand from the ocean came from the first inch or inch and half all is good, if it came in gray or a color other than what you would expect do not use it.
