I'm a simple man, with simple needs......I vote to get back to the daily avatar change.
Much like remedial magic tricks, shooting stars, and shiny objects.....I'm hypnotized by the logic/illogic all wrapped in one. Brilliant!

Poukie, we're going to just have to work out the details on our own. These guys are only into saltwater, it seems.

The Lumenbright Mini Wide arrived. I took a bunch of pictures, but I can't tell if it is wide at all. I'll have to compare it against Henry's normal mini, and perhaps take pictures of how the light spreads on an open area of a wall in the room. Perhaps it will look oval.

I would most surely buy that plane ticket. She wants a coral rather than a ring.... Definitely a keeper.

I don't think it will look like an oval. The reflector is still round. I think the spread will be WIDER. --Ed |

The tank is looking great! It seems to be responding well to the lower nitrates.
Regarding your vodka dosing, I noticed in your last couple sets of test results that your phosphates have remained elevated and require additional attention even though your nitrates have come down. I was the under the impression that dosing a carbon source would help lower your nitrates and phosphates. Do you have any thoughts about why it's working for your nitrates but not your phosphates? |

I posted a ton of pictures in the past few weeks, with a lot of them near the end of the last split. I'll be posting more again in the near future. More FTS doesn't make a lot of sense to me, since once you've seen it, 10 more versions of a FTS are just 11 virtually identical pictures. At tonight's club meeting, I'm going to do a presentation about the Long Beach Aquarium. When I visited in April, I took around 200 pictures, and it looks like about half were usable. Quote:

Today's avatar is very cool. I'll have to do some reading on that one. Although I think Pookie may be a little disappointed that she was just thrown to the waste basket

I don't recall. A totally random guess would be just over 68 days, but Matt's the person to ask. Those links to Matt's site may allow you to post comments or questions.

Sump
Today I went to pick up the acrylic for the sump construction.
The owner of the acrylic shop was a very nice man. He offered an hour of his time and gave me a crash course on acrylic work. How to properly saw, route and mostly important weld the joints. He made me do several test joints on 3/8 acrylic squares until I was confident and comfortable. Interesting I did not make me use any pins or wires on the seam. Just appose the pieces and the weld-on would just get into the seam creating a buble less perfet joint. This was done with weld-on 3.not 4. Now I have bought weld-on 4. Marc can use weld-on 4 the same way I used weld-on 3 without the pins? is 4 it much thicker than 3 that you need to separate the seam a little bit in order for the weldon to get in? As usual I wouls appreciate your opinion and some explanation. PS. Since you took out Poukie avatar does it mean it didn't work out?

Let's just say that whenever she's living here, the avatar will stay.
Weldon #3 works great, and you can use it. #4 gives you a little more time to work the seam as it sets up. I'm back to using #3 ever since I got into a conversation with Calvin in his gorgeous 12' DIY display tank. I still use pins often. When I use none, I end up with bubbles instead of a pretty joint. I've been told MEK works even better, but I've not tried it yet. |
