Full testing will be done this weekend but strong growth on my green montis and significant decrease is algae growth. Running pax Bellum at 5 hours and will ramp up to 6 next week only adding iron and half cap full iodide every other day. The all for reef send to be doing it’s job.

Good growth on my monti red and green frags. Tests show 9.4 ALK. 1385 MAG 400 CALC Using All for reef only for these numbers. Also tested Nitrates which are at 0.1 and Phosphate at .13. Dosing 1 ML of nitrates for the Pax Bellum. Hoping to lower Phosphate. Also dosing iron and iodine. 2 ML every other day.

New photos frags growing well. Also feeding amino acids. NitrAte unreadable at 0. Phosphate at 10 parts per million. Most importantly negligible nuisance algae growth Running pax Bellum n-18 from 6pm to 2 am and 6 am to 8 am. One hour overlap.6B275613-6217-4FE6-A14F-F55483948273.jpg

Purchased my. Hippo Tang about 4 weeks ago. Did not quarantine. He started showing signs of black spot. Flatworm about 2 weeks ago. Did not affect him eating or movement also noticed my clownfish being a little less happy. Decided to try to fight the parasites. Dosed Praziquantel(just 6.5 ML) a week ago left in tank 72 hours. Did a 25% water change. Turned skimmer back on and added carbon. Did not seem to make a big improvement. Repeated on Wednesday cause the worms seemed to increase in the Tang although clownfish stopped acting sluggish and no longer showed spots. This time I dosed 10 ML. Left in tank 3 days and yesterday did another water change. Ended up doing about 20% cause I used some of my saltwater to clean my Algae Reactor. Off point I have to confirm that the reactors can hold tons of pods. Well after change the tang is spot free from what I can see. Will still do one final dose this week. The SPS corals wee totally fine with the dosing. My Bi-Color Hammer Ciral seemed to be slightly irritated. Be careful with dosage if you have Wrasses. When I did the first dose my 6-line acted like he was having shaking issues but after about 20 minutes he seemed fine. Did not have a chance to view him after second dose as I did it in the morning and had to go to work. Also keep oxygen high cause the Praziquantel doe the carbon/bacteria does suck up lots of oxygen.

Something as simple was a filter sock significantly quieted my tank and cut down of dissolved nutrients. The cheap fishnet texture one that comes with the reefer tanks is pretty useless. The inexpensive upgrade to a mesh bag is really helping to lower phosphate. My skimmer volume has really lowered even though I had already adjusted it for a low nutrient tank. My algae reactor seems to handle the nitrates.

The Bristletooth tangs, like the Kole have great utility, eating detritus and algae. But they tend to harass fish added after them so ideally you'd add one after you've added smaller, more timid fish first. For now, get a variety of reproducing snails.

The copepod explosion is interesting. I wonder if amphipods eat copepods. After I cleaned my Pax Bellum I know that several amphipods were left in the plastic bucket that I used to clean the Chaeto. The next day they were all over the glass and today once the N18 tired on they were covering the clear acrylic top. The six-line is eating buffet style all day but I assume he has been doing so for a while. Everyday for the last 2 weeks his belly has been full
