Hi Joel

We have the OSHUN 612, which is a heatsink designed for the AI Vega available for $159.95 + Shipping. Lead time is about 2 weeks because we are currently out of stock of the units in Black.

It is a drop in solution, providing the Heatsink/Unibody, Fan, Lid & Splashguard. You will generally need to retain your factory fan connector (the little white thing that plugs into the motherboard) and crimp/connect it to the fan we provide.

Let me know if you are interested.

Cheers

Hello all,

Here's a few pictures of the OSHUN 612 heatsink that Chris from CNC Reef designed for us folks that upgraded to the Hydra 52 from the Vega units and had all our parts left over from the upgrade.

The OSHUN 612 heatsink works fantastic, and Chris is a true gentleman to work with.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures,
Randy

Ps. Forgot to mention in the last picture, the OSHUN 612 heatsink is the middle fixture.

Did anyone achieve good growth of sps coral using Vega's? There seems to be a lack of success I can find compared to a few others led's

I had a vega for about a year and had next to no growth on any coral. Upgraded to the hydra and all the corals started to grow like crazy. I just added a few pieces of SPS and they seem to be doing well.

Looks like not many people have had success with the vega Colors. I myself have 4 over my tank and cannot get good colors or growth. I found this thread again looking for success stories with these lights. Sad that I cannot find any. Looks like I'm going to have to look at the hydras or radions.

I'm leaning towards the radion gen 3. Not sure if the pro is worth it or just the regular gen 3 is good enough.

Kaju g2k. Where in corona? I'm in Eastvale.

AI Vega Color/Blue Owners Thread!

Mike. I'm in eastvale too.

I was thinking of going gen3 pro with wide lenses but then it seems all leds have the same thing in common. SHADE. You need to add extra lights and angle them to get the different Angles and to mitigate the shade.

I'm looking at pacific sun Pandora Hyperion S. It's a led, 4 bulb t5.

It's main light is the led and the supplement is the t5 vs some other brands that their main focus is t5 and then supplement is led.

Kevin

I have 4 vega over my 8ft long tank right now. There is definitely shading going on. I was planning to pick up 6-8 radions to try and reduce the shading.

I was also looking at the ATI hybrid T5 but would require me to get two 48" fixtures. Also the weight of each fixture would require me to modify my ceiling quite a bit to support the weight of two fixtures. There are no joist beams over my tank. I don't want to go thru the that much trouble.

They are probably getting ready to stock the Hydra 52HD upgrade kits. Just hold off a bit. And speaking of Eastvale...... I'm a former resident!

I agree. Hopefully they are the same price as the hydra52 upgrades.

Yes. You are a former resident of eastvale. Your missing out on all the new things going on here as the city grows.

I bought 2 Vegas for cheap and am having to fix one up since the mother board fried and took out two led pucks and 2 drivers. Does anyone have drivers or color pucks they are willing to part with?

I have had my Vegas for a few years now and every colorful coral I buy ends up losing its vibrant color. Will upgrading to the hydras really help?

Same boat as you. My water parameters are good and stable. Every sps I buy, it either Browns out or loses it's vibrant color. I'm making the switch back to T5 with led supplements. Ati/led hybrid to be exact. I just got the fixture this morning.

I don't think led alone is good enough to grow colorful sps. It really needs to be a combo of led and T5. A lot of nice sps tanks that uses led also have T5 to supplement their tanks.

PS: I was looking for awhile to upgrade my LEDs to something better like radion G3 pro or the ghl mitras. The mitras have reflectors in them and are arguably the better of the two led providing better coverage and multiple pucks per fixture. I followed their club thread and even there, a majority of its users ended up selling the light. I emailed them asking the reason they sold it, all of them had the same answer. While the lights grew sps, they were not vibrant in color. All ended up switching back to mh or t5.

Thanks for the info! I'll have to look into the ati hybrid lights you're talking about.
If you have the time take a picture of your tank now and then a month or two after installing the t-5 lights. It would be interesting to see the difference it makes.

For those interested, I have been trying to purchase the Vega to 52 upgrade for over a year now for 4 fixtures.

For the longest time AI's site would always state "out of stock".

Then a few months ago when you selected the fixture you wanted to upgrade (Vega) it would state: "page does not exist"...

So, I called AI to inquire and was informed they are no longer supporting upgrades...

Just recently (this month) in conversation with AI, the reasoning was they are running their machines 24/7 just to keep up with the demand of the 26 & 52 HD's.

They MIGHT resume upgrade support sometime in 2018...

Anyways, I also have/had little to no growth and lacking colors with my Vega's.

Sadly, my T5's put these things to shame.

Even my 18" office cube with a single Prime has so much more color and growth.
