Bleaching anemones
Hello,
I have an Innovative Marine 60 with Reef Breeders Photon V2 Leds. I am running a MaxSpect Gyre XF330 in Gyre mode. I had a group of 7 Black Widows that I added. Several have bleached and their tentacles shrank to nubs. I am not sure what is going on. They remain attached to the live rock. The ones that look the worst are on the same rock. I am not sure if its light or flow. Has any one experience this before? Thanks |

These issues with anemones almost always come down to one of the following:
Age of tank? Alkalinity? PH? Nitrates? Phosphates? Salinity? If you want to post the answers we might be able to help you find the problem. Sent from my SM-G892U using Tapatalk

In addition to the factors bradleym mentioned, high temperature or rapid temp changes can also cause bleaching and tentacle shrinkage.

I try to keep my tanks between 77 and 80 degrees F.
I have had friends have bleaching and short tentacles when their temps rose above 82 for any length of time.
