Seeing it in the tank kinda puts a different perspective on it, the pipe looks really large now. What size diameter is it?

I've been doing some research on codium and it appears it can be found in alot of areas around the world and some species are considered invasive and are out competing native species. Looks like a trip to the beach is in order to see if I can find some. What do you suppose the prospects for collection would be this time of year on exposed rocks?

That pipe was only 1/2" PVC and it has about four coats of cement on it. As for codium, I really don't know if you can find it now. The Atlantic is still fairly warm but if it is up on the beach it would be frozen and dead. You may have to wade out into the water a little at low tide. Mine still looks good with no sign of dying but snails eat it and cause it to float.

Here is an older picture of that rock. It starts above the copperband butterfly. Some years I remove it to replace it with a smaller piece depending on whats in the tank. The moorish Idol grew too large so I removed the rock. I may cut some of the rock down and replace it in the tank or I may use a smaller piece that I have curing now.

I dont think I'll be wading into the Atlantic anytime soon BRRRR. Maybe check the rocks near the low tide line where they're not exposed so much.

I've got some similar. Mine seems to be a bit darker.

Ok, so in my outdoor garden, using similar textures but different colors can really add some unity to a garden design. We could do some trading but that would bite if it was just different lighting or cameras!

Well with Christmas coming, and an incredibly insane work schedule I really havent been able to make alot of progress as far as purchasing my lighting, or setting up my refuge and top off/water change tank. I did however find alittle time today to move some LR from my cooking barrell and a piece from my 90 gal reef and I also moved some coral frags in. Temporarily my lighting is a double 4' NO flourescent fixture with URI bulbs. It only lights 3/4 of the tank, but at least I can start adding rock and some low light corals. So far for coral frags I have some purple mushrooms, pulsing xenia, 2 very small sarcophyton frags which grew out of the base of their parent, green star polyps, and a small piece of pocillopora towards the top of the rocks.

My plan as far as reefscaping is concerned is to construct 2 or 3 bommies (I think thats the right word) with some lagoon type corals on them, and work the seagrass in on the ends and back to help conceal overflows. I'm hoping to keep the sand in the front somewhat open.
I'll post some pics hopefully tomorrow.

Well my refuge is up and running, I've got a couple small pices of macro in there, gracilaria sp.?, cheato, and caulerpa peltata. Lighting so far is a LOA 65 watt PC unit with 6500k bulb. Do you think this adequate? I was considering adding another, or I found at Home Depot they now have an 85 and 100 watt PC fixture both with 6500k bulb.

Just got my first seagrass, and they threw in some ( gracilaria ) with the order. The plants look okay so far, plenty of root structure. Here they are acclimating, and so I can check for any bad guys.

Who did you order from? and how was the service/pricing?

How deep is your DSB - the one image looks to be only about 2-3"?

I was told that Turtle grass needs more light than just one LOA 65w by Bill at billsreef.com - he had recommended 2 or 3 directly above. In addition to deepening my DSB, I just added an additional LOA 65w to my lagoon this past weekend for the macro's and accumulating corals.

I'll be adding one final one when the seagrass gets here - just not sure where

I bought it from an ebay seller, exoticaquaticsandpets, service was good, they answered my questions, packaged it the way I wanted although it cost alittle more, and I got the order in a few days.

DSB is 5" average, my lighting is low only 80 watts NO flourescent although it does get spillover from my fuge 65 watt LOA and from my anemone/clown tank 156 watts T-5. The water is only 12 inches deep and the light is supporting some soft corals, and even a pocillopora sps. I do plan to upgrade to T-5's when funds permit.

Come to my marina in about 9 weeks. They throw it away by the ton. Maybe I can get $30.00 a plant for it.
Sounds good to me.
Along with that I can give you free horseshoe crabs, snails, urchins, anemones, crabs, worms, tires and Oldsmobiles.

All kidding aside, I do like the look of seaweed in a tank, and that stuff is as good as any. I hope it does well.

Here's abetter pic of the lagoon tank itself, not quite there yet, but slowly its coming. The LR will be a little more spread out once I get a better light. I want to have a large open sand area in the middle.

Ooh. YOU are the guy with the suspended shelf!!! that image has stuck in my mind, but I lost track of who it was who had done it... great idea BTW - especially with the adjustible tensioner to assist in leveling.

Great setup... I'm jelous. The wife and I just got back from a weekend trip to KC, MO... while away I managed to convince her on an inwall 200+ with "my room-o-pipes, tanks, misc. water" behind it !!! Someday I'll be in that league

Great setup, can't wait to see the pics as it fills in and growth goes crazy in your system...
