Easy to Set Up Quarantine Tank

I have an extra 3'x1'x1' acrylic tank laying around that I want to use for a on-demand quarantine/hospital/holding tank

I dont want it to be up and running 24/7/365, just when needed (new coral/fish, sick/injured fish, etc)

The tank has a 1" bulkhead for overflow and two 3/4" holes on top for return.

My idea is to just fill with display tank water when I need it (do a water change on DT) and then have the sponge from whatever filter I'm using stay in the sump of the DT until needed.

Filter ideas are:
-sponge filter with air pump (will need to plug overflow line)
-canister filter plumbed to overflow line and one return line
-HOB filter (aquaclear)(would need to cut top acrylic)

What is the cheapest, quickest and easiest to set up idea for this tank?

Thank you for your help

I also wanted some guidance for that. I just bought an air pump and air stone with a sponge thingy on it- figured it would be enough.

IMO, the sponge filter will be the best for this tank.
