Thanks Capn'

I keep it simple. Weekly water changes, ESV Kalk in the topoff, moderate flow with gentle surges, and feed the tank. LPS like food!

Lighting is all VHO, skimmer is CSS125, no CA reactor or fancy nutrient reduction strategies that I wouldn't maintain consistenly.

Stability is the key.

I agree with stability. Since I put two of my three k4's on timers I have a loll for about two minutes and then they start up again. My organ pipe coral and torch are really liking that break.

Do you mind me asking your feeding routine?

Bill--do you know PaulB --the two of you live close and seem to have the most salt water experience on RC

Only from his posts which I really admire.

I've not bee too active on RC the last two years. I spend most of my posting time on New Jersey Reefers Club, but I lurk here.

Not too sophisticated. I use a mix of frozen foods; mysis, San Francisco Angel and Butterfly Mix, Reef Plankton, Emerald Entree, Squid, Clam, Mussel, some Tropic Marin Zoo Plankton, Cyclopeeze mixed with garlic and selcon. I mix a row of each cube in saltwater so the food doesn't float.

I feed daily, sometimes 2x a day. The way my flow works all the LPS wind up catching food. I do believe in target feeding LPS, but I haven't done much lately. When I do the scoly and cyanaria get whole silversides, the frogs and hammers get chunks of krill or mysis.

I put some thought into my flow setup to favor my Euphyllia and I think it works.

My return runs a little shy of 300gph. I have 2 K4's for laminar flow across the back. 4 maxijets are controlled by an AC3 for surge. They are pointed from the back to the opposite corner. 2 right and 2 left so they cross the streams. I cycle the ones in the middle 1 minute on and 4 minutes off for one and 1 minute on and 5 minutes off for the other. The other pair runs 1 minute on and 9 minutes off and 1 minutes on and 11 minutes off.

So each side gets both maxi jets on at the sametime every other cycle, the sides alternate at changing intervals, and once an hour we get a perfect storm with all the powerheads on at once.

The way it works out is the front has a gentle continual flow with random surges of varying intensity; hopefully like they would get in a real lagoon.

Actually, the frogspawn that you see in the top left corner, and towards the right of the tank, used ot be ONE HUGE PIECE ! When I was packing it up during the move, the base of it snapped in half, so now I have two big pieces.

I was so mad at myself for that ! It was my prize coral !

I know how you feel. The mass of frogspawn in the center of my tank above was all one piece of about 75 heads. When I moved it from the old tank by the time I got it into the 180 it was 6 or 7 pieces.

Very nice tank Michelle.

Most of my acans were purchased from Oakville Reef Gallery. Tom has been keeping us happy with Aussie shipments

She's just been set up, and technically it's "NPS dominated," but...
