E.J.'s new S. gigantea species tank
Hello All,
A quickly growing anemone and GSMguys build thread inspired me to build a new system dedicated to S. gigantea anemones. The heart of the system is a 48"x30"x17" 97g acrylic aquarium built by my local (he ships too!!) acrylic tank builder, John at Advanced Acrylics I just picked up the tank, and will finish unwrapping it later. For now i have to take a door off to get my stand in Here is a sneak peak: Some nice beveled edges: |

I also had John build me a sump. 33"x15"x17". Both tanks are really nice, can't find a single bubble in any of the seams

Must have been a cool surprise. Looks very well built. What equipment will you be using? I really like the idea of a Gigantea only tank.

Lighting: 2x175w 10k XM powered by PFO 1X250w 10k XM powered by Icecap electric 65w LOA floodlight for the refuge section of the sump I plan on building a Pendant to house all three bulbs. The material will be 1/4" birch. The dimensions will be 48"x24"x7" For skimming I will be using my Tunze 9010, hopefully with the foam-extractor add-on. For flow my initial plan was to use the Closed loop on my current tank which includes an Oceans Motions super-squirt and Sequence Dart. However, I decided that the I wanted to try the powerhead route instead, and I will be running 2 Vortech MPW40s. In addition to my return which is a Gen-s Mak4. The stand is 26" tall .... set up for bed level viewing ... the tank is going next to my bed... Hopefully the top-down view will be nice as well... Last edited by E.J. The tank will be filled by the weekend hopefully. I have around 105# of mature rock in a bin, and 60 in my cube, so I plan to stock fairly quickly .... probably going to transfer in the first gigantea from my 60 within two weeks. Gonna have to sell/trade some rock too.... |

Unfortunately the tank builder doesn't make stands, so I had the stand made by some local guy with cheap prices. I decided to take a chance an save a buck.... It has some issues, but after some modification, it will do the job.... |

Well, I made some progress. Work/school are killing my time right now ... I barely have enough time to put together the tank, let alone post about it
I finished the plumbing and I am leak testing right now. |

If you post in here about your Vortech:
http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumd...s=&forumid=501 I'm sure they will solve your problem. A while ago I saw a thread where one guy just siliconed round his bulkhead, he says it worked fine and he had no leaks at all. |

is the bulkhead leaking at the outter threads (tank), or the inner threads (female pipe threads) ?
